@xinso, I got error on step 7. I create folder x:\mount and I got enterprise.wim from step 6. But gimagex (mine is v2.11 x64 gimagex) cannot go thru. Error displayed unable to mount image and ???. When check enterprise.wim with gimagex info, looks like ok. Trying many way but cannot solve. dism use to mount? Any advice? Please. Thank you.
You're right. But, when I share ISOs with my friend they will not be able to identify that properly though I educate them to refer date for builds.
The batch works great with the th2 MCT x86/x64 download but whenever I go so far as to combine .wims into one .wim with 10240 .wims I lose the ability to upgrade. I can combine 10240 x86 .wims with other x86 .wims and x64 .wims with other x64 .wims and will not lose upgradability as long as they are separate .wims copied into the separate x86/x64 sources folders, but, again, once combined into one and that single .wim is copied into each sources folder I lose out. I know I've kind of asked this before but I wish I knew why or what could change this. I did combine a th1 Pro x86/x64 download into the MSDN th1 multi-edition .wims and that gave upgradability to Home and Pro (as separate .wims) but, again, that was lost as soon as they were combined into the one .wim. Of course the separate .wims defeat the whole purpose of having a 'shared' .wim or .esd and thus the .isos are too large in that form. Again, the combined, single .wim will upgrade with the th2 x86/x64 multi-edition download with 10586 .wims but not with 10240s.
X: stands for the Drive Letter of your disk partition. e.g. C:, D:, and so on. So, we must create a folder MOUNT at, say C:\. Then use GImageX to mount the install.wim to C:\MOUNT. e.g. Step 7: Mount Index 1 of C:\Enterprise.wim to C:\MOUNT (by GImageX, and check Read and Write) If you would like to use dism, please go for it.
Do you mean that you can't upgrade from DVD boot, or from a running Windows? I think I never tried to upgrade from DVD boot over a Windows 7/8.x.
@xinso, yes exactly I did them but cannot progress by GimageX Mount menu. enterprise .wim info has pro index 1 and repeat step 1-6 over and over but no luck. ok I will use dism to mount instead of GimageX for step 7. Thank you. P.s I am trying to other PC installed W8.1+waik5 or W10 v10240+ADK10240 for run GimageX 2.11. Because dism command not process on D: (USB Flash Drive) for mount either. It work only on C:\mount (root). Let' do and see what happened.
I even tried starting with the original th2 download, just using 10240 .wims instead of 10586 and then ran it through the batch. Same error--setup cannot validate the product key. Of course the .iso originally created with the straight th2 works fine and upgrades. I even repeated doing the original (all th2) just to make sure I wasn't going nuts, and it worked, so apparently we can upgrade only with 10586 and not with 10240.
Batch updated to v1.2. Fixed a few bugs and replaced a few commands. I haven't checked the upgrading issue, I'll take a look at that when I get some more free time.
You're right. I use Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1. After replacing the line, it started exporting images without error. Will post results after checking.
Good to know Unfortunately I don't have the possibility of testing it over several Windows, and imagex seems to be no longer updated like dism is, so at some point it might become incompatible. Maybe I should add both commands and use cdimage when the batch is not run in Windows 10... work in progress!
I got that error when I tried to export (again, using the dism code above) the multi-editions into just the Pro, so I wound up doing it in the reverse--Pro into the multi-editions (probably could've just substituted multis for pro).
