I need to make an image of an old IDE harddrive running on a PIII with windows2000, the HDD is going on 9 years old and I would like to buy a new compatible HDD and image. There is a $15k robotics program on it that I have lost the license for so upgrading to a new computer would be expensive. Supposedly the software is keyed to the HDD IRQ address, so I need help with that as well.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated:

    1. HDD image software for Win2000 ?
    2. Where to buy a new reliable IDE HDD ?
    3. How to handle the IRQ address issue ?

    Thanks

Big fan of Acronis True Image which I currently use. But for Windows 2000, have to agree with LateShift, Ghost (2003) works like a charm.

:smartass: Use Windows Server backup software to perform disk clone if you want to transfer OS to a same new hard disk. If the configurations have been change, you need a tool which can help you do hardware independent restore, which allows you to restore your existing OS to a different hardware.

as old as that program is, surely by now there is some way you can make it work on a new hdd without any problems. i mean technology and licensing have so developed since then that the license with that program must be easy to crack...

Unless licence is tied to the HD serial no or written to ie protected sector. Thay used this kind in last century...

But first clone it & see (why not clone it to a virtual machine first? much easier)
