Computer : HP PAVILION 23-b010ef ALL-IN-ONE (http: // h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c03527111&DocLang=en&docLocale=en_US&jumpid=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0001) Motherboard ("pegatron" IPISB-AB (Leeds-G)) (http: // h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docLocale=en_US&docId=emr_na-c03340922) Hi all, I had to reinstall my OEM since I had lot of troubles due to bad hard drive and so on, so I decided to reinstall everything and bought a brand new HDD in the mean time... Once my WIN7x64 was fully installed, I went through HP website to download all the drivers required, as well the BIOS driver. I tried and installed each driver but for all of them, I had a popup with an error (999 if I don't mistake) and saying that the driver is not compatible and so on... Okay ! Then I decided to don't bother with step by step install and drivers research on the web, so I retreived my original CD restore and switched off the computer to start through the CDROM. BUT, once it started, I could hear the CD running and maybe the computer was installing, I don't really know as all I could see is a BLACK SCREEN, not even a cursor, nothing at all, and no sound as well, no bips nothing!!!! Since this time, I have this black screen all the time, tried to flash ths BIOS, no success... Discovered through HP ftp server that the bios file I downloaded from their website is CRITICAL , Could be the reason so.... I cannot even test my graphic card as it is integrated to the mobo, and as it's a ALL IN ONE, I can't test the screen as well (no hdmi or video port). Please if you have an idea of how I could repair, or find the fault on my comp, please let me know. Many thanks in advance.
Tx Tito for your interest !! As said, it's a BLACK screen, nothing at all is showing, whatever I try F10 F6 F8 and so on, it's like a screen switched off..
News : I checked the BIOS ROM I'v downloaded from HP website, the one supposed to be compatible with my AIO 23-b010ef according to HP.... Amitool1.63 return : Not Amibios Phoenixtool 2.50 return : EFI / Insyde BIOS My motherboard (still according to HP) has an AMIBIOS. I did some photos : This is the BIOS provided by HP for my comp : ftp:// h18013.www1.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp67001-67500/sp67096.html ftp:// h18013.www1.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp67001-67500/sp67096.exe Please help me as I'm a bit lost :/
If you look at the 1st photo it tells you it's AMI Aptio. This is a UEFI bios, that is why you can open it with Phoenixtool. Did it ship with win7 or win8? I think you may have flashed the wrong bios or it failed during flash. Perhaps HP have a bios flashback/recovery feature.
Received it with Win8.. The only BIOS HP offers is the one I linked in my precedent post.. I called them : "you have to pay to talk with a technician or try and post your request in our forum, the technicians will help you". I posted and nobody answered yet, what HP wants is my wallet but I paid this comp around 750€ 1 year and a half ago, warranty stopped in Sept2014, I have enough giving my money !!!! My son has an Acer (year 2004) it's still running fine, and drivers, BIOS and cie are all available and free of critical purposes! I'll never put even 1 cent in a HP product anymore, never! They don't even help you, nothing at all : just PAY
What I'd need actually is to have the correct BIOS, and to know the correct way to flash it, as the mobo doesn't have the clearCMOS jumper, all I have is a FDO (3 pins) with 1 jumper close to the bios battery. Then, 2 BIOS CONFIG (2 pins each) named E18 and E19 no jumper on these. And finally a ROM RECOVERY with 7 pins and 1 jumper. I'm sure HP could give me the good BIOS and the "how to flash" tutorial... But they just don't care
Try to recover the bios: get LEE_816.ROM from sp67096.exe via 7-Zip, prepare a FAT32 formatted USB drive, put the file in the USB drive, rename it either HPBIOS.ROM or LEE_816.ROM. Plug it in the USB 2.0 ports, while powering on the system, keep pressing <Ctrl> and <Home> simultaneously on your PS2 or USB keyboard until your hear two short beeps. This may take from a few seconds to one minute.
With LEE_816.ROM or HPBIOS.ROM in my USB hey, plugged to USB 2.0 (port 1) this is the result : CTRL+HOME and keeping them I switch on the comp, USB key is lightening a bit, then no light, then a lot and I hear 8 long BIPS, then USB key doesn't light anymore, comp light is still on but fixed and it stay like this, it dosen't switch off either, I have to unplug the wire to switch it off. And of course stil no screen, nothing
When I look up 23-b010ef only drivers appear. Where are you getting this bios from? Are you sure it's the correct version???
Over here : http: // support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-23-b000-All-in-One-Desktop-PC-series/5295897/model/5309739/drivers In the drop down list at the bottom right of the page, I have to choose "windows 8" as operating system and yes, there is 1 BIOS update named : ROM Family 2AED - Released: 2014-06-30 | Size: 4.5M - Version: 8.16 A If I choose Win 8.1 so there is no BIOS update available. Yes original I tried again yesterday evening, what ever I try is : 8 longs bips and that's it. I tried with different versions of ROM Family 2AED I found on HP website, as there's a french guy who managed to recover his BIOS with another computer BIOS model but same ROM family while HP was telling him on the forum that his motherboard couldn't be recovered mwahahah But actually I don't have his luck
While I'm reading all of your posts, I'm thinking at my recovery CD, the one I made the day I received my computer (so win8 x64) Do you think there is a way to find the original/good BIOS inside ?
i use findandmount to recovery the file in the EFI 268Mb partition.. look in the HP bios recovery stickys
I'm not sure whether standard HP BIOS recovery methods will work on this mobo as it uses normal AMI Aptio, not encrypted Insyde H2O.
So what do you suggest ? I am looking in the HD that was in the bricked computer, there's a lot of files ....
