Have you used any loaders or cracks in the past..be sure they are uninstalled. Possibly it may be necessary to clean MBR.

To help out, what prior mods were tried. I dont mind helping, I am not researching this tho.....sorry....

I have not installed any loaders. What I did, though, was flashed a BIOS modded with ASUS bin/cert. And I believe it's since then the _ASUS_Notebook_V2.0 has stuck. Do you think cleaning the MBR could clear it? If so, please advise proper steps.

Links to prior mods I've tried are listed in the OP.

No, the MBR is sometimes for loaders. Which mod did you flash for the 2.0? Do you know if it was dynamic mod or pubkey?

You have to flash from dos or ezflash if available. You also need to flash with all switches..

I did flash in dos using the ASUS Awdflash v1.34 (found on forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/529-Bios-Tools?p=41596#post41596) using the following commad line suggested by NoJuan999: awdflash 317_BIN /cc/cd/cp/py/R

DAZ loader tool is very unnecessary. I think maybe flashing the bios from HP is a good start, clear cmos and load defaults manually. Download them from the HP support site, no third party to be sure.

I think flashing with the HP tool should be OK to start, no need for DOS flash with factory untouched BIOS update.

Run RWE after flash to be sure no slic is showing and the RSDT/XSDT tables have changed.

Okay, I don't know if I should start panicing now. I tried flashing original BIOS with HP Tool in Windows and got the same error message saying invalid Windows license. And then I did it in DOS with ASUS Awdflash v1.34 and SLIC is still present.

Did a flash of original BIOS in DOS with ASUS Awdflash v1.20. Checked SLIC Dump Toolkit and SLIC was still there. Then decided to try the original BIOS again in Windows using HP Tool. At first it exited with an error message saying chip on board is not Award BIOS. The second time around, it started to flashing but halted the computer at 87%. After that it's all history.
