unfortunately the same result as normal, does its load for some time so it appears to be loading the bios off the disk then it gets to a point about a minute later where it stops and just does nothing then thats it, leave it 20 mins still not turned off so i unplug it, plug it back in and it instantly turns on to a blank screen, i can still use Winkey B to get to recovery.. i just don't think this one wants to recover!
I'm trying to hotflash the BIOS chip of my abit IP35 Pro using an abit AT8 32X. Both use Phoenix D686 BIOS chip. After hotflashing and attempting to use awdflash 854b (also tried Uniflash), AWDFLASH says nothing for "flash info" and Uniflash says "unknown". Did I fry my BIOS chip somehow, or do I just have to use another IP35 Pro to hotflash it? I booted from a USB key, if that matters.
Hey all, I'm a newbie to this forum and bios modding. I know this may seem like a basic question but I have seen others post it without any answers to it. I'm trying to create a Bios Crisis Recovery image to put on a CD, Flash drive, Floppy. I have downloaded the tools needed to this. I think I understand how to make the above. However, what files I include concerning the bios is where I get confused. I know the basic Dos files, but not exactly what I need to include for the Bios. I have a Gateway FX7805u laptop. Just over 2 MB Bios in size. Now the Dos files I have for the Bios are; Bios: 9C:17:00 Bios.bat....Include IMV-035.wph...1 MB IMV-035.ROM...1MB According to all instruction's included with these recovery proceedures say you must rename your bios file (or ROM file) to BIOS.WPH. (Which would lead a person to believe it is the IMV-035.ROM file. But that seems to give 2 two .wph files in the same image. So which file do I re-name from the above files to BIOS.WPH? Should I include both files in the image? Or do I re-name the ROM file to BIOS.WPH. and only include that for the flash or do I include the orginal IMV-035.wph in the image also. The reason I even ask this because I have seen this question over and over with no definite answer ever given. I think this could be part of the reason so many people have trouble recovering. I hope someone can resolve this for me. It may seem foolish but all the instructions don't give examples. Thanks
suggestion.... on top of this post you should also list the Key strokes for specific brands or all the possible keystrokes known.. so that the people who are not aware will not be stuck not knowing which keys to press... just a sayin...
Successfully unbricking Acer Aspire 2920 A few hours ago, i stupidly killed my bios when i tried to clear the bios password that my kid set months ago.... I bring it to life using: 1. A usb thumb drive formatted as floppy using HP Drive Key. 2. Crisis disk image created using Wincris ( i used virtualfloppy so wincris can create the disk into it, just run wincris and tick Format Drive A, on format option, DO NOT tick create system!). Once done, open dos box and goto crisis folder and run makeboot A:, this will make drive A bootable. 3. Goto virtualfloppy, click SAVE IMAGE and name it with .img extension. 4. Open up HP format tool and format your usb thumb drive, select create system and point it to image file created in step 3 5. Remove notebook battery, plug in usb thumb drive, press Del-Esc-Power button and Plug in your AC jack. Power button will blink a few time, release all keys and let it run for 10mins. 6. Press the power button and pull out the AC jack, DO NOT release the power button yet, press for about 30sec. Hopefully it works for you too!! My notebook is ALIVE again!! Thanks for the superb threads... Edit: So who can help me REMOVING the bios password for acer 2920 (cmospwd, killcmos, wipecmos = failed to clear it!)
How about the BIOS recovery of Dell Latitude D610? I can enter the boot block mode by the key "End", while it seems that I have no put the right ROM image file on the floppy, the recovery will not start, just shutting down. Anyone know what file should I put on the floppy for this recovery? *.hdr, *.rom, or exactly filename.ext ?
