I dont have the tool. My friend works at acer service center got it. I will try my best to get it from him.
Can any one shed any light on how my situation could be sorted. I have an Acer Aspire 5050 which has a corrupt Phoenix bios. It turns power/hd/power button led come on but does not post whilst the CD/DVD light comes on as if it's trying to read a disk. I've tried to recover using Flash Disk but no go. So is a USB Floppy disk the only way to go or can I use the CD drive?
I used: hp drive key utility to make my usb drive as floppy disk. Then use hp usb disk storage format tool to format it. I then use crisis disk to create recovery disk. Pressing del-power-esc-fn key while plugging in the power jack making my acer goto flash mode i guess... I just let it blink for about 10mins and then power off my acer. I let the power button pressed for about 30sec. Works for me
striker, if youre familiar with eeprom programming, i think you should go for it. I did it once on my gigabyte mobo, but it was an easy chip to remove (8legs 25LV040) and i am using my friend advanced 48 programmer to do it AND i got a working chip as my source... > Read the working chip to file >> Write the file into bad flash chip >>> Resoldered the chip to mobo It works beautifully...
Some pls help with the eact key sequence for Sony Vaio FE31Z Have tried all the possible Fn +B Win+B key sequences whilst powering on the laptop. Nothing activates the Boot Block so that the Crisis Disk from the USB floppy is read. Would be grateful if someone who knows the correct key sequence for Sony Vaio notebooks can help. Thanks
MY chip is soldered to the mobo it is a soic 8 pin mx25L8005 as shown in the image in my previous post but i am thinking instead of taking it out i would detach the vcc pin and solder wires to rest of the pins on the mobo itself and and then connect those wires to the motherboard socket of another computer for hotflashing, i need something that i can do without the use of a programmer since i am not familiar with eeprom programming.
Toshiba issues. Hi everybody, I m trying two days now to fix a Toshiba A210-183 (PSAFGE with phoenix bios probably) laptop. I tried to update the BIOS and now the laptop wont start. So to fix it, I started with all the methods you have here, but nothing worked. For some reason none of the key combinations will work, but when I press " f " (not fn or anything, just " f ") it will read from the (USB) floppy for 10 seconds and then nothing. The laptop is still dead, I tried several PHLASH16, but still. I was thinking if anybody knows a different way or something like that. I would really appreciate any response. P.S.: Its my girlfriends laptop .
I forgot to make an update after fixing the problem. I bought a BIOS chip from someone on ebay (it was about $10) and I purchased a PLCC chip extractor from dealextreme for about $3. I had to break the chip extractor to seat it properly(capacitor was in the way), but that only took a few minutes and it was very easy to replace the chip.
Bios password I would like to flash the bios on a THINKPAD t42 that was given to me. Unfortunately it has the supervisor password on it. Is there a way I can bypass the boot up on this password in order to flash the bios? Maybe this way I can actually access the laptop and actually be able to use it? Thank you so much for your help.
