i have a problem with my hp Pavilion DV6513eg Notebook
my notebook didnĀ“t start after a bios update no longer
the screen remains black and the leds light up
then I tried the various methods
in method 2, the notebook is flashing. the leds from the floppy blinks and the notebook beeps minutes approximately 3 minutes. but the screen is after reboot still black and the leds lights up
thefiles in the bios update from hp includes 2 wph files
is it right to rename one of these files (30CFF32A.WPH, 30CFF32B.WPH) to BIOS.WPH?

Hi. I have been reading through the pages here and see three other people with the same issue I have. I am wondering if they have solved their issue.

I have a HP Compaq C350EA. I modified the BIOS to whitelist some hardware. After I flashed it, it didn't boot. I can access the crisis recovery no problem. If I leave the USB floppy off I get continual series of beeps. IfI plug in the floppy and follow the normal recovery instructions the floppy reads fine for a couple of minutes, and then stops, like it should. On reboot however the laptop is still dead. I read in a previous post I might need to clear the CMOS by holding down the power button with the adapter disconnected after the flash - I tried that to no avail.

It's odd because the crisis recovery seems to work fine, but after it read the BIOS there is still no system. The previous posters who had this issue were all HP owners as well. I'm guessing there is something we are missing here, and I was hoping someone knew what that was.

A few other things I tried:

    - About 16 different versions of phlas16 (up to phlash1614).
    - The previous BIOS file for this laptop

Nothing has worked. I would be hard pressed to say its bricked because the recover mode works fine and the systems beeps when you go into recovery mode without the USB floppy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi!

    This is my problem:

I have Asus F5R notebook. Cose I have some problems with keyboard I flashed it's BIOS using instructions from Asus website. I'm not sure if flashing process went well (the process of flashing is shown like some progress bar; first several blocks became red and rest became rose). After flashing process AFLASH2 program told me to reboot and I did. But, after that, my notebook became dead. When I press the power button power led starts and HDD flash for second, fan starts, but screen remains black. No beeps, no nothing.

I've read some instructions here, but I'm not sure which method should I follow. I don't know is BIOS Ami or Phoenix or Award.

Can someone tell me which method should I follow? Or anything other which could help? Do I really need to have USB Floppy or USB Stick is enough?

I really need your help, guys! Thanks!

Another way to recover your BIOS is if you have an external programmer, then all you need is another computer to run it.
I have also heard of "hot flash" BIOS, where you would have another chip with the correct BIOS, and boot using that chip, and then while the computer is booted, swap the chip with the bad flashed chip and re-flash it. Sound dangerous.
I like the external programmer method better, cause one could flash multiple chips with the same BIOS and have a spear BIOS. External programmer works regardless if the boot block gets corrupted or not.

I am sorry, I was not directing my post at you, it was simply a general recovery process that I wanted to add to an existing one, also is the one I use.
I do not know if I can be of much help, but I can try. The download link that you have provided is not working though, do you have the file on hand?

hi, that exe it is the only bios upgrade available on the manufacturer website. I saw that you at least can start the wflash program. I can't even make it to start on my system. On what kind of notebook pc you have managed to start wflash? maybe if you can start the wflash as i see in your screenshot , you can go in you temporary file folder ad check if the bin file is there, until you keep the wflash opened.

Yea, I tried to do just that, and cannot find the bin file anywhere, I even did the "*.bin" search, and nothing comes up pertaining to BIOS file. Acer Aspire Notebook opens WFlash, but I do not know if can run on all Aspire based notebook. The downloads for the Aspire, has the binary file included with the WFlash utility. When I tried yours, it seems to not include any binary of any sort. I am wondering if Packard Bell forgot to include the binary file or did they purposely leave it out. You may have to contact the company and ask if you can have the binary file. You could tell them your situation and also tell them that you have a recovery mean and need the binary file to carry it out. Can't hurt to ask, if you have not done so already.
    Sorry .

already done, and they left me in the cold... they says that no bin file is available.
what model fo acer aspire ? did you try to open the wflash.exe with universal extractor? i ca'tn do that cause my system don't let to start the exe, and extracting method of universal extractor needs the exe to be started..usually universal extractor provide to do so automatically.

Acer Aspire 4710. I am afraid I have a disappointing news, I have tried the universal extractor and still no avail to finding that binary file. It most certainly sucks when the company refuse to help you. The only thing I can think of now is to locate another notebook like yours and dump it's BIOS into binary format somehow.
