awdflash893.exe should change to awd893.exe because of the dos file length limit

Moreover, it seems that awd893 don't accept the /f option, as having it awd893 will display the help message

Does this method also works on any or most Asus notebook?

    TTAV134,

I may need your expertise in this thread as well... :wavetowel2:

Oh well, something went terribly wrong during the last bios flash. (I didn’t do anything stupid). It started normally then system halted at the beginning of the actual flashing. I waited for 10min. Then rebooted my so much hated x120e... (had to pull out power cord and battery)

After reconnecting laptop to power, the power button has a light and laptop can be switched on/off but there is no video signal. Fan is blowing air at max speed. No beeps…

Used XP to create a WINCRISIS disk (2gb flash drive). It looks like all 3 files are there:

    Code:
    BIOS.WPH<--renamed $0A8F000_NWL_SLIC.FL1
    PHLASH16.EXE<--created by WINCRISIS setup
    MINIDOS.SYS<--created by WINCRISIS setup
Then I’ve tried to follow the instruction
    forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/870-Bios-Recovery-Procedures?p=339306&viewfull=1

I also tried with key combo "Fn"+"B"… With/without battery… But I see no activity on the flash drive.

So is time to call Lenovo for a swap? Is there a way to check what keys system is expecting to be pressed during recovery time? I will try to contact Lenovo CS for that matter. But from my previous experience I do no not expect much help from them…

    Hi quid,

Thank you for the information. Where can we get these files?
    – BIOS.cap
    – PFlash.efi
    – CrisisRecovery.efi

Does we need to put all of the files in the EFI folder? I did examine Aspire 4750G's BIOS package (this model use Phoenix UEFI BIOS) but I can't find any of the required files except BIOS image in it.

    Dell Inspiron 1564

    Greetings folks,

I got hold of a Dell Inspiron 1564 which is bricked due to a failed BIOS update, which would be out of generosity mine if I manage to fix it.

Currently, the laptop starts for like 4 seconds with no display then its off.

I did used the Phoenix crisis disk utility to create a Bootable USB drive and I did include the most recent BIOS (.wph) for the laptop.
I followed the procedure as in:
    "forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/15377-Dell-XPS-Studio-1640-Bios-update-problems-through-Phoenix-Recovery"

The trouble is, irrespective of what I do (e.g. pressing del key then plugging power), the device starts for a short while but there is no processor fan spinning nor it reads any thing from the USB flash drive (no blinking of the USB LED), and it seems to turn off after the 4 seconds interval.

I tried other key combinations associated with Phoenix based laptops (WinKey + B),(Fn + B), but to no avail.

    Any ideas ?

    Many Thanks.

When laptop turned off after a couple of seconds turn it on, there is something else wrong here. BIOS recovery is impossible in this condition. Try:-
    1. Removed the second memory module from DIMM2 & try turn on your notebook again.
    2. If notebook can power on without turning off itself, shutdown & put back the second memory module.
    3. Try again the recovery procedure.

need help with a recovery of a Lenovo G560 Laptop with Insyde H20 Bios.

the laptop just shut down last night and no longer boots into Windows. I can't enter the bios anymore at all. Windows says it wants a recovery disc but I'm unable to boot from the CD as I can't get into the Bios.

I read some threads on the internet that the Lenovo G560 has bios corruption problem.

I never touched the bios as this laptop came with the latest version.

Is there a way to recover the bios on this laptop? I don't really want to mail it in to the service center.
