Have you tried to use/rename the signature files provided with the official bios update package?

I have aProbook 4520s, I tried your method but doesnt work!!! The pc turn on (if i presso win + b), and the led on the usb stick flesh for some seconds, but then it stops flashing and the notebook wont read what's inside. I've tried different usb, and formatted to fat....and did everything as you said.
I previously formatted my hard disk, so I dont have any more the "hp recovery" little partition. Maybe sould be this the problem?

Anyone can help me with a procedure that can make again alive my probook 4520s? I would be immensely grateful!!!!

To answer this myself I found out that I needed to use the FL1 file thats the BIOS file. I got it on the USB drive with Wincrisis, but can´t make it work tried many things Fn+R and windows keys. Is it just dead and unrecoverable? I was thinking maybe I could try with an USB floppy drive, but I will maybe get the same result?

I assume you did rename the BIOS file to BIOS.WPH? You did create the CRISIS disk in Windows XP, right? Some notebook need floppy disk for successful BIOS recovery. Please try floppy disk.

Yes I renamed the file and edited the BAT file in Wincrisis so I could do it in Windows 7. It could be nice to get confirmed that it will work with a floppy driive, because I don´t have at home and then I should buy one. :sad3:

I hope this is the right thread to post this in, but I broke my computer after trying to flash the BIOS with a modded BIOS so I could overclock. Now the computer doesn't boot up with a visible screen, and it beeps when it is turned on; one high-pitched one, then a lower-pitched one a few seconds after that. If I plug in a PS/2 keyboard and press a key like CTRL, it beeps the same low-pitched sound again. I'm assuming this is BootBlock, but I'm not sure, and I'm not sure if BootBlock was left intact.

I tried plugging in an external floppy drive with the bootable flash utility, and burnt the same thing to a CD-RW, but neither seem to load when I turn on the computer. The computer doesn't have a floppy drive built in, and I don't have an internal one available.

My BIOS is Phoenix AwardBIOS (I used awdflash.exe to flash it), and the motherboard is FIC K8MC51G.

Anything I can do? Would it be possible to make it load the flash utility from a hard drive, if I make the hard drive DOS-bootable?

Edit: Never mind, finally fixed it by hot flashing. awdflash.exe never worked correctly for me, so I ended up using flashrom, a Linux tool.

It is possible to recover phoenix bios with *.rom file?

    Hello all.
Could you advise me how can i flash phoenix bios under DOS?
I can run phlash16.exe under DOS.
But i have a problem. I've tried to extract by samsungBiosExtractor *.wph file from windows flasher exe file (here it is: //rghost.ru/31624591), but it isn't here.
I only get a *.rom file. Can i flash the bios with this rom-file? How can i do it?
    * I want to recovery bios, it was corrupted when i tried to flash under Windows.

    Thanks

Probook 4x30 (4530, 4330 and other from this series) BIOS recovery - WORKING!

    Hi!
    Get any flash USB drive,
Format to FAT (even under Win7),
Unpack original BIOS package by runing it :)
Important: - use any previous BIOS version - not F.20!!! I use F.0A.
Copy BIOS file from original HP package: (C:\SWSetup\sp51969\Rompaq\68SRR.bin) to main directory on flash disk (root)
Copy efibios.sig file taken from C:\SWSetup\sp51969\ROM.CAB to flash drive like before
    Rename efibios.sig to 68SRR.sig.
Put USB drive to bricked notebook, remove battery.
Now plug AC and power on notebook holding Win+B keys.
After that (about 20 sec later) notebook will go power down, then remove flash and follow HP recovery BIOS instructions on screen

This works for sure with 4530 notebook, but propably will work on other Probooks - just try.

    Regards
    MR

    Ami bios

    Hello,

I tried to update my BIOS .. and well it went wrong ..

Now, when I start my PC, it starts .. No screen when using my GFX card, niether on my OnBoard, no beeps etc, no POST screen .. NOTHING but ..Optical drive makes some noise (as in start it generally does, sound of lens moving around) ... then my LED's on cabinet (GREEN-POWER and RED-HDD) .. stays on for like 1 sec .. then RED blinks (as if PC is restarted) and then again Optical drives makes same sound .. it feels as if system is stuck in INFINITE reboot loop.

Things I tried (and obviously failed)
    1. Putted AMIBOOT.ROM (My backed up ROM file) into USB's root .. and tried plugging it all all USB ports available one by one .. started PC and pressed Ctlr + Home ........ Nothing happens .. restart (or w/e it does) occurs .. optical drives makes same sound.

    2. Burned a whole heck of a CD with just AMIBOOT.ROM ..... Now I feel bad for that 700mb CD containing just AMIBOOT.ROM (512KB) ... LOL .. and well .. inserting this didn't did anything as well ..

Now what should I do ..

    I have AMIBIOS 8 (4Mb/512KB) , Some local brand Mobo (Zebronics ZX-i945LM4)

I have plugged out my Graphics card, extra piece of RAM ........ now system just have attacked a Processor, 1 GB RAM, PS/2 keyboard, monitor, 1 HDD and 1 DVD Writer ..

Also, if I plug out the HDD .. the RED LED on my cabinet does same thing .. but if I plug out HDD and DVD Writer .. then the RED light is Dimmed and then because there are no sounds of DVD, beeps etc .. so dunno if its still busy restarting .. tried those above methods with these conditions too .. but no luck.

I also tried (which did no good) Clearing the CMOS by removing cell and with Jumper too ...

Now what ? i am totally stuck (and missing my PC) .. and right now I have borrowed my friend's PC for 2 days .. untill he is out of town .. so a fast help is needed ... :(

    Thanks You
    -Abhinav
