    Bloody works!

I had corrupted by BIOS after trying to update it when I was prompted in windows vista that there were updates available to my BIOS. My laptop is Toshiba satellite P205 S6267. I didn't find anybody who had enountered this problem with this laptop, so I wasn't sure if trying to recover BIOS will work. Well it did.

I first tried to do it using USB drive, but that didn't work. Then I managed to get hold of 1) a USB floppy drive, 2) downloaded crisdisk.rar from a link in one of such posts suggesting BIOS recovery, 3) downloaded BIOS version 1.1 from toshiba's site and 4) followed the instructions to write BIOS.WPH and 2 other files onto the floppy using a different computer. Then the key sequence used in the faulting laptop was Fn + B. The floopy drive's light turned on and got turned off in about 2-3 minutes. I waited for full 10 minutes though, before turning the power off, removing the floppy drive and turning the laptop on.

Hope it helps anyone with the same problem on same or a similar device.

I was looking for a new motherboard found out about Asus' USB BIOS Flashback. Anyone know how well they work for recovery? It sounds like it works independently on its own and doesn't need a working bootblock, and I can recover even if I manage to screw up everything in the BIOS :p - is that right?

    Hi,

Could anyone please advise me on a fix for an ASUS P8Z68 UEFI bricked BIOS?

I was updating the BIOS OK with a bootable USB stick using BUPDATER and it wrote the ROM file OK and then instructed me to restart the computer. I removed the USB stick and restarted the computer but now it will not go as far as the ASUS splash screen to get into the BIOS and the computer will not boot. I think that I should have left the USB stick in the USB slot when I restarted the computer so that it could complete the BIOS update?

I tried using the method of placing a renamed BIOS file on the USB stick (AMIBOOT.ROM) and getting the computer to read this file but it is not reading the USB stick at all even if I press Ctrl-Home

Any help most appreciated to get my computer working again.

    Thx

    can anyone help me please? i have a lenovo 3000 G530 (4151)

i attempted to update my bios from 0CCN48WW to OCCN52WW and winphlash 64 basically crashed as it was writing block (block 10 of 40 or something).
my computer is now officially bricked. my bios is Phoenix TrustCore. here's what i've done so far. 1. obtained a 1GB flash drive.2. downloaded the newest bios and have extracted the WPH file.3. renamed the WPH file to BIOS.WPH4. run WINCRIS with the flash drive.5. after that , it basically creates the following files in my flash drive.-BIOS.WPH-MINIDOS.SYS-PHLASH166. i have checked the flash drive to make sure there is no config.sys, or other files.7. the flash drive is FAT168. i then took the battery out, put the flash drive in, pressed either (FN + B, FN + R, WIN + B, WIN + R, FN + ESC) BEFORE i plug it in, then plug in the power, and then hit the power button, and hold for about 5 seconds.9. here's what happens. FN+B or FN+R -- it will beep once right at the start, and the fan is noticably louder. about 30 seconds later it will beep. 1 long, pause, 2 short.WIN + B, WIN + R, FN + ESC, or no keys at all -- it will not beep at the start, and the fan is pretty quiet. again, about 30 seconds later it will beep, 1 long, pause, 2 short. so, definitely something seems to be happening with the FN+B or FN+R buttons. i'm not sure what. if i take out the RAM, it doesn't beep at the start at all, and doesn't ever really beep at all. if i put in the battery, it acts the same as the WIN+B, WIN+R situation regardless of what keys i push (doesn't beep at the start, fan is pretty quiet, will start beeping in same pattern after about 30 seconds). so. can anyone help me out? am i messing up the configuation of my flash drive? am i messing up the keystroke order? do i need battery or no battery? please. help. very desperate here!!

    Hi.

I have a HP DV9812eo laptop which will not boot up or start from any kind of device when using recovery mode (win+b). I have tried both USB floppy drive and USB-stick. I have done several BIOS flashes and recoveries on this laptop (to rule out which BIOS updates works and which doesn't, to finally be able to use the most recent version and yes, I know that you shouldn't update BIOS unless there's any problems caused by an outdated BIOS but since several BIOS Recoveries have succeeded I thought that it would work).

All of the times when BIOS flashing have failed I've been using Phoenix Crisis Recovery on a USB Floppy Disk, and every time up until now recovery has been successful. And all of a sudden the USB floppy drive recovery method wont work, even though I'm using the exact same floppy disk in the exact same floppy drive in the exact same USB port on the damaged computer.

Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas on this matter?

Did u format to FAT, not FAT32 or NTFS? If yes, try again but now press and hold the 'CTRL' and 'HOME' keys at the same time.
Also try to remove HDD, CD/DVD and any periphery

    Good luck!

    Hi

I have an Acer Aspire 5100 (Phoenix BIOS); I think that the BIOS is "dead" (black screen, no POST, no ACER sigla, etc.); I already try to "recover" the BIOS using a FAT formated USB FLASH (256 Mb) with ICL50HW.fd on it....no success.
What "combination" of keys i have to use? (I try Fn+Esc, Fn+B, Win+B)...still nothing....
If the BIOS is dead, the USB ports is still working? (the LED on USB FLASH that I use is OFF - no light- all the time during the process )

    The BIOS can be "resurected"?

    Please HELP !!!

Hi! I own a Qosmio f50 laptop and today i download the file from toshiba to update my bios. Everything went well until installer reaches block 16 when system freezes. I left it half an hour and then tried to power-off the pc with the button, but it dont. I unplug the ac-adaptor and the battery and it closes, but when i power it on again I get a black screen..
What should i do? I read something about phoenix crisis disk with which i can get the bios work again.

After hours of forum-searching i give it a try:
First, i dont have usb floppy so wincris.exe didn't help me. Is possible this to be done with usb stick? and if yes what usb port should i use?

I tried also wincris.exe with a usb drive.I didnt know where to find my bios. I went to toshiba site and download BIOS update and unzip it and use the skaa240a.rom file. I rename it to BIOS.WPH and pull the stick into laptop. Followed some instructions to put laptop in crisis recovery mode (Fn+b during powering it on, i think i did it because no led light up) and let it about 20 minutes. Nothing happens.

Also using hp usb disk storage format tool create another bootable usb with the same bios but i get nothing again. i used this guide Bios Recovery Procedures .

I've tried also, downloading the bios v2.4 from toshiba and following the instructions from the read-me file, to create a boot cd with the BIOS but the laptop don't load the cd.

Maybe i do something wrong. Anyone knows the process ? Please help!!
