Hi guys, I hope you can help me. I have ASUS Eee PC 1015CX with AMI BIOS. I flash it with bad BIOS and now it's "dead". When I press power button, I hear "click" in HDD and then computer restarts. This happens three times and then there is no "click" in HDD and no restart, power diod is on, fan is running but display is off. I read a lot of recovery instruction, but my ntb haven't CD drive, so my only chance is USB. Well, I have clear USB disk (FAT file system), BIOS file AMIBOOT.ROM on it, but I can't press Ctrl+Home because my Home button is hidden in Right arrow and available only through Fn button (and pressing it with Ctrl+Right arrow isn't helping). Have this misery a solution? I'm sorry for my bad English.
I haven't Phoenix BIOS. But for being sure, I tried it with CX.ROM file name and still no succes. LED on USB key remains off.
put file in usb. plug in usb.. hold fn esc while pluggin in power and pressing power button. (when it flashes power .. press it then let go of all )
You try format FAT, or make usb boot with HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool bios this is bios AMI aptio
Hi all I have a Lenovo Y580, and I like to know what is the proper Bios recovery method, Insyde or Crysis??? Thanks
I have a bricked XI 3650 Amilo Laptop. I have made the Stick with Crisis. The Flash files are on the Stick. But wich Procedure shall i use?
I have some trouble with my Toshiba Satellite P300-13B (PSPC4E) I've disconnected the battery, HDD and DVD. I successfully created an USB boot disk using HP USB Tool. It was empty after I run it. I copied three files into it, PHLASH16.EXE, Autoexec.bat and my laptops bios, named bios.wph (version 4.20) I've tried multiplie key combinations, following the boot instruction (USB -> Power Cord -> Power Button), as FN/WIN + B/F, FN/WIN + ESC. When I boot up with FN/WIN + B/F, it just boots up "normally", all LEDs light up and the screen stay black. The USB doesnt flash or anything. Using FN + ESC is a different story though, no LEDs light up, except for the power button. The USB flashes briefly, for a few seconds, and after a little while the laptop begins to beep. When I say beep, it really beeps, loudly as hell! 1 long beep + 2 short beeps, which goes on constantly. I left it for about 10-15 minutes, but nothing happened. The beeps were really loud, so I shut it down. I tried doing the key combination without connecting the USB, and it did the same thing, 1 long + 2 short beeps. I've also tried some other Crisis Recovery tool, all with the same result. Used 32-bit Windows XP to create the Recovery USB. Would be really grateful for any help I can get. Edit: Tried to remove the RAM-sticks, one by one. Using any of the two sticks, it beeps as usual. When I try to recover without the sticks, it doesn't beep, but the USB doesn't flash like it does with RAM inside. Can I do BIOS Recovery without any RAM-sticks? In that case I'll just try some different methods again without RAM. Edit 2: Would like to try this with an older BIOS, anyone who know if there is any available for my laptop? Toshiba only have one version, 4.20.
My PC didn't recognize my USB FAT recovery by using first method. I think the problem with what keys I should click when start running. Mine is desktop Foxconn H61MXL-K.
Troubles recovering Lenovo Thinkpad T420 from a flash gone bad.. Hi Dear Bios Recovery Experts. I am in need of some serious professionals here.. I flashed my ThinkPad T420 (4236-RN8) with normal latest bios update, after which I rebooted and the laptop is just giving out 5 beeps, short silence and 5 more beeps. Screen remains dark. The link for that most previous BIOS update I used was hxxp download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/83uj24us.exe I have been reading these forums for about a week now trying to find out about the Bios recovery procedures. There are almost no mentions of T420. I tried putting the latest bios 83ET72WW version unpacked $01C8000.FL1 to USB stick, attaching it to the T420 and powering on while pressing Fn + f (also tried Fn + esc, f, b and r) and I do not even see any activity on the usb flash drive. (it's not blinking) I have tried all different usb ports. When pressing the power button after trying the key combinations, the laptop turns on, HD led blinks shortly and laptop gives out the same 5+5 beeps and refuses to read my usb stick. I am using 4Gb USB flash drive. The screen remains dark and the laptop fan seems to be increasing it's rotation speed but the usb stick led does not blink to indicate anything is being read there, I have also tried using SD card but nothing seems to be happening.. I know people have succesfully been able to recover their T420 machines from a bad flash, please, if anybody can help to unbrick my machine it would be greatly appreciated, I cannot afford to change the motherboard and the machine is out of warranty.. I've tried looking into the bios file's to find out about correct name for the bios file, I see something about BIOS.cap but renaming the file to that does not help either. Will I have to decrypt the FL1 file using some program ? Will I have to use this so called crisis disk ? What makes this more difficult I now only have access to my old linux based desktop so I cannot run those tools that require windows to check out the bios files more closely as explained in these forums.. I think my T420 has and UEFI based Phoenix bios.. (?) Any help and pointers are greatly appreciated..
hello men, anyone with experinence with SAMSUNG NP-R780-JS0MDE (motherboard ???? BREMEN-M Rev. 1.3 (100312)-8) ? I tried to get some information direct from Samsung Service Center in Germany. Simply shameful. The guy from the hotline let me know, that Samsung don't provide any information for a recovery to the end-user. I couldn't believe what I heard. Thought I got a slap in my face. He just gave me a link to the relateted repair service. Happened in Germany 2012. NEVER THIS BRAND AGAIN !!!!! What happened ? My BIOS-update (08JA (WIN_R780_08JA.exe) crashed and nothing is going on. Power supply broke down for a second, the battery was disconnected. Black screen, DVD drive starts, you can hear the positioning of the read/write head during 2-3 seconds. After about 5 min the drive stops. I tried ALL procedures described in this threat as well as the procedures you find in www dot biosflash dot com Tried recovery with boot-USB-floppy, boot-CD, boot-USB-stick. No chance. No experinence with Linux. Any suggestion ....... ? Looking forward to Your answers. Harald
I have not been able to boot up from USB with my T420 but have checked that the USB using this method is infact bootable on other machines.. Try giving this method a go, maybe it will work for you: hxxp://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-S-series-Netbooks/LENOVO-BIOS-RECOVERY/td-p/332989 P.S. Had to edit link due to my low post count. As for myself, I might just have to try and put the recovery files to the main hd as it seems boot from USB is disabled in bios, and that might affect the recovery process booting from USB as well.. Now I just need the proper recovery filename..
Yeah I've read a lot of posts including his, and have tried renaming the .FL1 file to BIOS.WPH, also to some others as well.. But I have a light in the USB stick and can confirm it does not even blink on in the thinkpad, making me think it is not even being read from at all, being blocked by the USB boot being disabled and all. That is why I was thinking I might have to try putting it to main HD, but since it seems that is not booting in it's normal state, if I could only get the actual Phoenix/Insyde recovery filename that does not rely on the recovery disk loading the flash program I might just repartition my HD with another computer and put that BIOS file there and hope the insyde recovery procedure would take care of it... Otherwise it might be a new mainboard replacement.. For me the phoenix tool did not give any exact filename for recovery but looking at the bios file there is a reference to "BIOS.cap" (sounds like filename) near strings named "El Torito" which somewhere I read would indicate the recovery filename... That does not work on USB either, but I am almost 100% certain USB is not being read.. I will next try naming that bios file to Bios.cap and see when I get a chance to place it on my Thinkpad HD as I will have to find a 2.5" hd dock or go bother a friend to lend his laptop for a while.. if someone can suggest a better recovery filename who is more familiar with Andy's phoenixtool and can have a look at the T420 Bios files.. Wondering if I am even close thinking "BIOS.cap"...
