It's 4Gb Transcend.. The odd thing is, it seems to boot on older desktop I have access to, and I would except even a short blink on the laptop when it is trying to access it..

And I am fairly certain that boot from USB was disabled in BIOS in the laptop, probably not a chance that the recovery process would override that...

Well just gonna have to try another brand for kicks when I get my hands on one, or go the HD route... Even tried few SD cards, 1Gg and 4Gb in size, though boot from those might have been disabled too if I recall correctly.. Damn me for being too security minded and disabling boot from those devices,

Yeah tried with a few different usb memory sticks, it's a no go, even though the light came on in a few of them. (different kind of light, not blinking when accessing, just burning continuously when attached even to my laptop or any other working desktop or laptop..

Tried even making a fat partition to internal HD which was empty otherwise, so made it an only partiotion with size roughly less than a Gb... used the Crisis Recovery disc on that, then copied my .FL file named as itself and offcourse named bios.wph and even tried bios.cap which I'd seen referenced in the bios file itself when trying to research it with editor :D Also copied the FvRecovery.fd which came from lenovo Bios package hopint that would give some results... It all seems a no go, just 3+3 beeps at the start regardless if anything is attached or not.

And yeah T420 only takes Sata HD, not IDE so could not experiment with that..

Also not able to go to BIOS settings to change HD access mode since it's in black screen only state at the moment.. USed to be AHCI mode though before this happened..

I am not that familiar with flashing Lenovo T420 Bios/Eeprom/Cmos with external flashers so It's out of my knowledge league so to speak....

Damn, mainboard replacement seems to be the only option..

Hmm none of my immediate friends own or have access to a USB floppy drive (oh those were the days when they were the standard issue on any desktop or laptop) and I am wondering if it would even be possible since the T420 Bios .FL1 file is roughly 8.5Mb in size, so at least in my reasoning it would seem highly unlikely that even with the Crisis recovery disk "compress bios file option" it would be able to compress that large a BIOS file to fit to a 1.44Mb floppy...

Hello there, I'm in a bit of a pickle and could really use some help, I'll just quickly tell what happened.
Yesterday I reinstalled my laptop (Packard Bell Easynote TK81-SB-573NC) and I though why not install a newer BIOS version, of course I had forgotten how dangerous this really is. So Current situation the laptop boots fine, I can hear Windows starting and if I hit enter I can hear it entering the desktop. Make note that I said "hear" since after the bios installation the screen is totally blank.
I'm very unsure as what to do as I have never mucked up a pc this badly, any advise would be greatly appreciated if been on the internet furiously looking for solutions this past day.
I myself have tried resetting the BIOS by taking out the CMOS battery for half an hour, aswell as hitting every know keyboard button that could do anything to my grapichs card.
I have an idea that the new BIOS might have disabled the internal grapichs card aswell as the external.

Apologies for all the text and thanks in advance

    Hi!

Will be appreciate if someone could help me to recover Clevo P370EM. (I think it has AMI Aptio Bios)
What is this magic key combination to recover from USB? And this magic file name for bios rom?
Also there are two files: bios(6 mb) and EC(4 mb), which of them I need to use?

file in the exe is BIOS.cap = EFI type. likely uses BIOS.cap or BIOS.WPH in usb to recover.

So a formated fat32 usb drive, with the bios file on it? i have tried that several times but seems to do nothing. While powering hold fn es, end, b etc. And yeah pretty sure its an efi type, where most solutions i found where for traditional bios, or does that not matter? much appreciated you helping out though, ty.
