with phoenixmod tool it shows AMIBOOT.ROM or PWWBED.rom i think ami u have to hold Home or End key . but that might be for desktop versions.
Have tried home and end keys, both whilst holding CTRL and SHIFT, but no combination gets it to read from the USB stick. The only key comnination that seems to work is FN+B - which I thought was the usual keys to press for a phoenix BIOS. unformtunately neither of these file names worked anyway
how do i use a USB floppy tho if the bios file is more than 1.44mb (its 2048kb)? Also sorry to sound dumb, but what is a USB programmer?
Mine is C660D-1GF I tried everything, i think something is going wrong with the bios on the toshiba's site (the 1.60).. we can get into recovery that's not the problem .. Maybe we could try with an older version but i can't find .. Another thing , as pheonix tool find 2 recovery files names, i think we need two file to recover the bios .. Something to do with ec.rom and bios.rom ! i'm 100% sure that we need those 2 file ..what do you think ?
Thanks ! But it don't work too :/ , i think we have missing something with the 2 file names we have got with phoenix tool ? EDIT: I noticed one thing : when i let the original bios file name , bios.rom, the led of the usb key lasts longer ! more than 2min !
lots of people are sufferign same fate with 660D and 1.60 they had to use spi programmer or order chip.. or call toshiba and bitch them out for this 1.60 fiasco. my usb programmer is in shipping.. lost old one
I'll continue to try different thing, but i don't want to disassemble it, i have a bad memorie about an older laptop that i disassembled lol :/ .. i'll call them on monday thanks for your help
By the looks of it the bios recovery is trying to read your bios. Think it might be the the bios uploader eg PHLASH16 Try different versions of the bios uploader. Had a toshiba satellite bios mod fail on a series A laptop about 12 months ago. Seem to recall downloading a different version of PHLASH16 from the MDL forums into my recovery floppy crisis disk before it recovered. Sorry i cant remember any more details.
Thanks but i tried both version, 1.6 and 1.6.1.7 but they don't work .. I noticed that : the led of the usb key blinks 3 times , ( blinks for 3sec, then stop for 1 sec, then blinks for 3sec, then stop for 1 sec, then blinks for 3sec then it stops) But if i put the AMIBOOT.ROM on the root of the usb key then if i try on my laptop the led did that ( blinks for 6sec then it stop for 1 sec then it blinks for 3sec then it stops ! does this mean something ? (all this process with crysis disk utility used !) i used wincris.exe to make my usb key (flashdrive) bootable with phlash there is the link of the tool : http :// rghost. net/ 42786865 ( i can't post link so just remove espace) Is there any other tool to make an usb flash drive bootable for bios recovery ?
sometimes u have to use dos to make crisdisk.. not windows... if u do use windows it needs xp and wincris not crisdisk. do it 2 times.. also dont forget to put bios.wph in the folder before making it .. not in usb after made. most of times i do chip recovery with programmer because it doesnt boot crisdisk if bootblock is corrupt
Hi Quick Question.... Gonna Flash a BIOS that I have modded for a FUJITSU Siemens Lifebook E8420, so just reading up on Recovery Procedures, in case things go "pear-shaped"!!!! On the first page it gives Methods Of Recovery for Pheonix BIOS's.... My Question is it mentions adding the BIOS.WPH file to the recovery medium, The BIOS for the E8420 is a ROM File, Will these recovery methods work? r do I need to first create a WPH File from the ROM File & then rename it? Anyone have any Tips on Recovering a BIOS to a Lifebook? Thanks for any info, someone may be able to provide.....
When you mod a bios using andyp bios mod tools the recovery bios name will be given when the bios is being loaded for the mod. Use that bios name that is given in the pop up window. That name might be different to bios.wph. Use the name exactly as given eg Labc123.rom
hi, I buy the programmer See Prog, but cann`t to flash my bios. winbond 25x20bvnig img156.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=236032196_IMG_1676_122_164lo.JPG has 2 Mbit memory (256 kb) and the original bios flash has 2 048 kb.. its look like flash successfully, but comparison with the firmware file failed.. I don t know what do now, need help.. dump of my bios rghost.ru/43068614 and here is the original bios from nokia site rghost.ru/43068624
your backup was done wrong.. now chip has been erased ? need to cut the platform data out of the original dload i researched the "bios chip" and seems that is small if its right. keep looking for MX or SST or Winbond chips.. flash back the 11.bin to that chip to undoo your erasing writing wrong stuff. altho i think u read bios chip at wrong settings... read it as 4k sectors. bits and bytes are different by 8 to 1 Megabit MegaByte what programmer u have ??
