Hello everyone! Please forgive me if this is not the appropriate forum in this forum for this type of issue: Update the Notebook Satellite Bios S55-A5188 If it is not the appropriate Room of this Forum, please indicate to me where I should post this my great doubt. I have a S55-A5188 Satellite Notebook and it is with the latest bios update installed which was made available by Toshiba, version 1.90 according to the Aida64 data below: DMI DMI BIOS Vendor: TOSHIBA DMI BIOS Version: 1.90 DMI System Manufacturer: TOSHIBA DMI System Product: Satellite S55-A DMI System Version: PSKK2U-04M04W DMI System Serial Number: 3E171255S DMI System UUID: 10DD5E1E-C4B4E381-39012025-647FA46D DMI Motherboard Manufacturer: TOSHIBA DMI Motherboard Product: VG10S DMI Motherboard Version: To be filled by O.E.M. DMI Motherboard Serial Number: BSN12345678901234567 DMI Chassis Manufacturer: TOSHIBA DMI Chassis Version: To Be Filled By O.E.M. DMI Chassis Serial Number: CSN12345678901234567 DMI Chassis Asset Tag: No Asset Tag DMI Chassis Type: Notebook It turns out that I saw on the Internet a new update of Bios for my Satellite Notebook S55-A5188, whose version is 2.1. I downloaded the TSP55A5312.bin and TSP 55A5312.bin uncompressed files from the file spc-l-toshiba - satelites55a5188-vgsmbrev2.rar Searching the Internet, I was informed that to do this bios update would be necessary to disassemble my notebook, desoldering the chip, recording (through a bios recorder purchased separately) and resolding the chip. Is this process so complex in this way? Will I have to buy a separate bios recorder, take an electronics course, or even take an Electronic Engineering course here at a Brazilian university to become an electronics expert so I can do this update on my Satellite S55-A5188 Notebook? I count on your collaboration in my doubt! Thank you!
Hi, I'm desperately trying to downgrade an HP Envy 17t-s100 BIOS from F.94 version (latest), to F.83 (the last one that works with Windows 7). I tried the provided tools with all kinds of flags and "Platform.ini" editing to no avail. Is there any tool / technique to FORCE the downgrade? Thanks!

Is there any way to change the service tag on a Dell XPS 15 9550 ? I have tried Dell Platform Tags v4.0.27.0, AMI DMIEdit and other old Dell tools but nothing has worked. With Platform Tags I can change the asset tag successfully but there is no listed option to change the service tag. Am I missing something or am I using the wrong tool ?? I read about SmMfgCfg32/64.exe but apparently I need a file called s2token.tbl because this tool is made to be run / connect to Dells internal network. I also read about changing the asset tag to "pass:12/34" which would put the board into manufacturing mode, but I have not tried this yet (and don't know if it will allow me to change the service tag since it seems this is mostly for SLIC modification). I have the old board with me but I have not yet swapped the ROM chips or started playing around with the external programmer. Any help would be much appreciated
On some boards (I have experience with DELL desktop boards only) there is jumper labeled "SERVICE" (in notebook it could be a pair of pads) - when I shorted it out, it cleared the service tag and allowed me to enter it again directly from BIOS setup (I am not sure now if I needed to power the system up with the jumper closed) You could try to look for something like that.
