From Peter Tripp/notpeter: SHA-1 10.13.6 (17G65) 69159caf25666ea1c5d466e158e075d947f6a9ee (InstallESD.dmg) 6b7522d7f78b93441ecd7dee73430af9b07b3744 (BaseSystem.dmg) Matches files in install app i downloaded personally from MAS, which, again matches every single file in the install app from the magnet link uploaded from a member at rutracker.org. And i mean literally every file, not just files above. Post checksums of files in question.
Thanks for your attention. I've found the culprit. Using PowerISO to extract the file in question (InstallESD.dmg) gives a sha1 value of 5690DAC2F76CB7EA14EC367389B095950D4248B7, while 7-Zip gives a sha1 value of 69159CAF25666EA1C5D466E158E075D947F6A9EE, which matches with the above. Both are of latest version. It seems 7-Zip is a more capable application to deal with Apple files system?
Normally i do Apple stuff in a Apple environment in general. That said, extracting files or hashing a single file from Apple formats (dmg, pkg etc) works (most of the time) flawless with 7-Zip in a Windows environment. PowerIso claims compatibility with DMG format, i´m not a user so i cant say much SHA-1 is a fixed algorithm and standardized. Are you extracting from dmg image from magnet link? And have you tried diff versions of PowerIso?
Yes, I extract the DMG files from the image from the magnet link you give me. I don't keep more than one version of PowerISO. The curious thing about PowerISO is; it seems to change the binary contents of the DMG files > 4GB while extracting. Not sure if I should let them know . I work in Windows environment but that shouldn't matter.
Yes. SHA-1 of this file extracted by PowerISO matches the above. This makes me think it has troubles dealing with larger DMG files in Apple files system in general. It wouldn't be a surprise bec unlike 7-Zip, the program main functions are not about dealing with various files system. But they shouldn't claim compatibility with Apple files system, it's dangerous for end users.
True. OT: I had a spin with UltraIso that also is "compatible" with DMG format BaseSystem.dmg InstallESD.dmg
if somebody wants to test this catalina MAC os on vmware then how could he/she download it without having a macbook . i had been through the link posted on 1st post of this thread but its not showing any button to download anything . just a description. even i login with a apple account . might be safari browser is needed.
only way to get started is you already have a working macOS VMware, or an actual mac. I could post the one I just made but 8 GB upload just sucks don't need to login with any account, you need to use safari within the macOS, then you need to follow the how-to this will give you the full and be bootable
