Hardware Identification (HWID) can be a bit tricky for those unfamiliar with Microsoft's version. And a move from XP is a pretty big jump. Not all hardware changes carry equal “reactivation” weight. Even Microsoft recognizes you need to change an HDD from time to time. The same is true for other components. If you make too many component changes, or maybe change the mother board, you likely will run into problems.
IIRC with a DM key as long as the motherboard has a non-removable NIC or TPM anything else can be changed. For other key types the NIC and TPM have less weight.
ive had the pagefault issue. sometimes is usb3 missing.. sometimes its graphics driver. and some is bios update. one time was usb port on laptop used.. switched to other side and worked.
