    Hi..

I have just treat my eldest to a pretty good laptop.

It comes with all the usual manufacturers rubbish.

I just know once the years warranty is out I will be doing a fresh install. She may even decide to go Win 10 in the future.

    I would like to know,

If I just sling in a fresh copy of Win 8.1 will it know what the key is, from the BIOS ?
Is there a special way to get at the key info and keep it safe ?
Can this be added to an Win 8.1 image, PID text and it installs and activates ?

All the time I have messed with desktops and laptops I have just made OEM images or daz's loader or MTK.
Never had to deal with a bought licence. Unsure what to do.

if you install 8.1 edition that comes with the system, it will pull the key from the bios and activate just like it was made to.

So if you have 8.1 Pro or Core, you would want the multi-edtion ISO. SingleLanguage same deal, will pull the key from the bios and activate automagically.
