I was having an issue with icons jumping around to a different monitor prior to 1803 which I solved by deleting the reg key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags\1\Desktop followed by a log off or reboot. Might be a quick fix for you. Obviously make a backup of the registry, try at your own risk, etc. Good luck & hope you find a solution. Things like this are infuriating

Please, do this test if you can (if have a GPU with 10 bit color support...):
download the file "NEC_10_bit_video_Windows_demo" (do a search with google and find it), launch the executable and you will open two windows ... in both you will see a gray background with a cube and a triangle that rotate; but the two windows differ from the fact that one uses the 10 bits of the video card, while the other uses the simple 8 bits. By magnifying the windows individually, you should note the difference: in the one that uses the 10 bits, the colors and above all the graduated gray scale background will be homogeneous, while in the one using the 8 bits, you will notice clearly banding and posterization.

For all of you out there experiencing NAS dropping from your 1803 upgrade here is some important info.

I found out the answer digging and digging and digging.

I would love to know where the Microsoft manual on important changes is but I can't find it.

To the point...
I have a Synology ^^^^^^^ and 1803 would drop and even have a few errors from time to time. So much that I went back to 1709.

Then I found out from the mentioned digging that Microsoft depreciated SMB v1 from Windows 10 as of 1803.

So after going into my advanced setting on my NAS I changed the highest to SMB v3 and Lowest from v1 to v2.
Not only did it fix the issues it is even faster on my gigabit network. Hopefully better when switch over to 10G

This is the best thing about community...
Don't get mad just communicate and solve issues.

Afaik, the smb1 exploit is patched by the CU's MSFT released when they found it

Maybe true about ransomeware or any other vulnerabilities using SMBv1 but who would have ever got this in the community without digging.

I guess this is why the experts get the big dollars when you are called into a doctors office because their NAS is no longer working after an update and no one decides to tell anyone.

You change a setting and within 2 minutes you just made $500 on a house call.

See, I just save you people $500

Or made you $500 however you want to look at it.

Every upgrade I have just given up and nuked, and re-installed everything. I am fed up with doing that every 6-8 months. My Windows 7 install is 5 years old and still runs fine :-/ (dual boot).

I've gone through all common "repairs" clean start (MSconfig stripping everything), sfc. DISM, etc. According to Windows, my system is in perfect health. Every extra bit of hardware has been stripped besides, video card, CPU, Memory and 1 hard drive, still no love. Tried all methoids of installing. WIndows update (fails at 98% of install), Windows update tool (gets around 96%) and mounting an ISO, all the same result.

WITH this all being said, If I install a base Windows 10 install, on a clean image, I will be able to upgrade with no problems. I dont want to nuke again and I want to understand WHY it's failing so I can avoid this next time.

The system is built system
- MSI MPOWER X99A
-24gb DDR4 Corsair ram
-MSI GTX960 video card.

System is updated with newest drivers etc The Bios is updated as far as I will go,

Hello,

If find the BCD store related error messages in your log file suspicious for causing failure and I have found the same error messages in my log file
Please open Command Prompt from Windows 10 Boot Options menu and enter

bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd

I have got an error message. If you get also an error message, please post the result and we should focus the investigations in the direction the error message shows.

Is it important the color or the error code ? MS changed the blue screen to green.

Installed W10 1803 (clean installation) on Samsung NP3530EC. Now i have problem with camera, is black screen in camera app, skype etc. Privacy settings is ok, everythings is on, camera driver installed. Camera model is: WebCam SC-13HDL11939N. Any solution? Thanks.
