I'm having what seems to be a codec (or players problem) , when pausing on Winamp the file (any audio format) have to restart to play again... for movies of any format in other players when pause for more than 1 min(not precise timing) and play again the sound mutes (player sound) for around 30 sec (sometimes more) then comes back this happened on KMplayer and MPC & windows Media Player (which suggests a codec issue)
In a custom install, when trying to select the partition into which to install Windows 8, If there are more than 3 primary partitions (total number of primary partitions for all hard drives) then you get this odd error message: "We couldn't create new partition or locate an existing one. For more information see the Setup log files.". Workaround for now is to just have one hard drive plugged in during installation and that hard drive have 1 to 3 primary partitions.
Lots of damn bugs: I just cann't figure it out that what is going with my windows 8. 1. Sometimes Mozila Firefox just hang up. After sometime it become normal. 2. Sometimes when some programms hang up task manager is not appearing for help. 3. Some process is taking too heavy CPU usage than Windows 7. 4. Windows network manager is too complicated. 5. Adobe Flash is not working with Mozila Firefox. 6. Nvidia device driver is creating problem sometime. -Everything else is good for now.
I hv also faced a few problems in many programs but i think its not a problem with windows 8. its a problem within that 3rd party program and will be fixed when a compatible version of that program is released for windows 8.
having a problem with the volume button not working on my sidewinder x4 keyboard. I have to unplug the connection and replug it to get it to work. I tried both windows 7 and windows 8 drivers. Im wondering if its the intel drivers from windows 7 I got installed edit... figured it out. human interface device service was set to manual. changed it to auto and now it works
Most of all reported "bugs" here are useless or no real problems. Why? Because the most problems described here are app or driver relevant and have nothing todo with the kernel or windows 8 itself. if some app does not work it's not a windows problem, its a software incompatible problem! The developer of the drivers or software need some time to change there apps to work with Windows 8. So if you like to report usefull bugreport do not report app related problems or questions. Microsoft can't fix problems which are not exist. Blame Adobe or yourself if you not know how to deal with a beta os.
+1, most problems are drivers related. On one of my computers, I had the video and audio drivers installed without any problems, win8 cp works so beautifully; on the other computer that I couldn't install the video driver and using the ms basic display driver, I had all kinds of problems - IE and Firefox freezes sometimes, video and sound out of sync when playing video files... If win8 cp let me install all of my drivers, any problems would be resolved!
If someone found "real" problems and "bugs" coused by the os itself, let me know and we can look at it, i'm one of the asp .net guys. We are watching this topic (forum) all the time. Cheers.
I got this procedure to work but it was a little tricky. Apparently the problem HID driver was at the top of the list of three HID drivers in Device manager>Keyboards which is the one causing this problem. I needed to first uninstall this driver to confirm that it fixes the freezing problem. I was just a little confused on the instructions apparently "my bad" so I've clarified the procedure in the paragraph below. After finding the problem HID driver by uninstalling it "it was the first one on the list of three,". I right clicked Keyboard in Device Manager and told it to scan for hardware changes which reinstalled the bad driver. At that point I right clicked on the problem driver and chose "update driver software" did the manual install method "Browse my computer for driver Software", then instead of browsing for it choose, "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my machine" at that point there is a choice of two drivers, one says " HID Keyboard device" the second one simply says "HID compliant device" which is the same one you mentioned before so I chose that one. After Windows updates the bad driver it vanishes from the list and opens up an expanded list of "Human interface devices" which is where I assume the new driver was installed too. The fix holds, and even after a reboot the old bad HID driver does not reinstall itself in the Keyboard HID driver list. I would imagine that if you installed the Logitech driver for the G15 or if you unplug the keyboard you may need to go through the procedure a second time but I haven't tested this out yet. PS CHEF-KOCH, I'm not blaming anyone here although I wouldn't consider the driver problems or the fixes posted here to be useless, the Op system itself is very stable indeed. There are a few small problems with IE10 although most will be fixed in due time I'm sure. I think we all knew to expect driver problems with a new Op system.
