I have had this computer for over a year now and purchased it with Windows 7 preinstalled, having had no issues until last night. The background of my screen has gone black, I continuously get pop ups saying it is not genuine, and I have a water mark in the lower right hand corner stating the same. Entering in my product key has no effect (resulting in an error message), and system restore has not resolved this issue either...please help.

I am currently uninstalling Service Pack 1 just to see if this changes anything. I've researched other threads with similar issues, but I did not want to create more complications in case my issue was different. I also ran a Microsoft Genuine Diagnostic Tool...not sure if this info will be of any benefit in diagnosing my problem:

I will genuinely appreciate any help I can get!

You purchased a computer with W7 preinstalled?

Where the hell did you buy a computer with Windows 7 preinstalled when it doesnt have SLIC 2.1 required to offlineactivate W7?
As far as I can see it only has 2.0 which will only activate xp/vista but not 7.

Perhaps I am incorrect...could I have had a trial version or beta? I just know that Windows 7 was already already on the system when I purchased it brand new out of the store. I've never had the xp or vista format as long as I've used this. Either way, what steps can i take to resolve this issue

Could've been a trial yes but not a beta since it says 7601 which means its Windows 7 SP1 :)
But the thing is, an OEMSLP key (For HP) is installed for Windows 7 for 7 Home Premium which im sure you are running beacuse it says "HPQOEM

Did you buy it in a trusted store from a known retailseller?

Seems legit, could've it been a "used" pc? Did it come in a HP box sealed and all that?

No, I highly doubt it was used. My friend bought the same computer a few months before me from the same store, and he is having no such issues. I just completed uninstall of Service Pack 1 just for kicks. Will reboot and update if there are any changes

**Just did the reboot...No luck except that it changed the build from 7601 to 7600 :/

Go to Daz loader click install then reboot if prompted

It will either detect your slic 2.1 and install key and cert or loader either way your activated

SP1 doesn't affect solutions at MDL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Yes we're that awesome :rule:

Does it have the Windows 7 sticker on the box?? Couldn't you just reactivate using the key?

    It says

    Code:
    Windows Product Key: *****-*****-73CQT-WMF7J-3Q6C9
    Windows Product Key Hash: KaFG+RmurcM3ZxzWyfEP9WtPUJw=
    Windows Product ID: 00359-OEM-8992687-00010
    Windows Product ID Type: 2
    Windows License Type: OEM SLP
That is suppose to mean it has OEM SLP key and slic 2.1 correct?

And he said he re-entered the key so things are confused

Hope he just uses Daz loader and gets done with it

Well it shows its an OEMSLP key, not that its SLIC 2.1.

    Further down it says:
    OEM Activation 2.0 Data-->
BIOS valid for OA 2.0: yes

Yea but he bought it with W7 preactivated out of store. Now we know that all store bought legit comps have slic 2.1

I've never actually seen it say 2.1 in mga report :p...lol

Someone show me a mga with it saying 2.1

Why don't you contact HP? Maybe they are aware of the issue. No sense fudging up the activation with loaders if not needed.

First we think he has slic 2.1 so loader will not install if slic 2.1 is there. Daz just installs key and cert if slic 2.1 is there

Second vary rarely does loader "fudge" things up

Daz thread is spectacular with support almost 99% when advanced options are correctly advised and used

DAZ fixed the issue. Thank you very much and I appreciate all the assistance. Not sure what caused this but looks like I am home free now
