Sure. I don't remember what it looked like before I upgraded the ATI driver. I'll try reinstalling 7989 without ATI driver some other day. PS CCC is good if you enable .Net Framework 3.5.1 in your system.
Well no need to reinstall Win8, just remove the ATI stuff from the control panal programs and features. As for CCC even with .NET 3.5.1 it would not work for me lol. It installs but won't ever open haha.
use compatibiliy mode before installing the driver, or install a driver for vista using the compatibility mode for vista
7989 x64 install fails md5 is correct, installs fine in virtualbox when installing the install process seems to go fine the progress box like above comes up and completes. there is a reboot then another reboot shortly after. the start screen with the fish comes up then just blackness. any ideas. and i have a phenom 2 x4 965 cpu i have also tried on different drives
If you can, before before start screen betta fish comes, hit F8 and choose "run windows in low resolution mode" or smthg like that(cannot remember..), just for first time, than you can acces to windows with no problems.... nice goin...
Where did you get the ISO? It can be possible that something might be wrong with the specific install.wim file in your ISO. Maybe try installing it again like normal to see if it works. It can be compatibility issues bust most likely if you can run Win7 x64 you can run this one.

Just a clarification: 1 - installed same build from usb stick on two PC, one faced the black screen after betta fish welcome screen(because 7989 installed a general graphic card driver not right compatible, and the only way is load windows(F8 button to choose which modality to load, low resolution was the right one to get into Windows, and with windows update install properly driver to work on next reboot) 2- The second computer installation went fine, so it's to exclude iso or install.wim corrupted, neither incompatibility of PC, first I3 second dual core T7100...
