    Hi,
I want to build a computer to do VMs mainly. I would like to play with Windows servers, run DC / DNS / DHCP / SQL / Exchange / etc., in a GUI installation. A complete small enterprise in a box.

I need some horse power, perhaps a double processor motherboard, a lot of memory (64 or more), SDDs, graphical is irrelevant for my purpose, no game or CAD. Need gigabit or more for networking, can do teaming if necessary. I’ll access the thing from Remote Desktop or other means. It’ll not necessarily be at my home, some safe environment where rackmounts is available, so cooling is not an issue. But it needs to be movable, so a decent case with water cooling must be feasible.

It’s my first attempt to such a system. Now, I’m using my main computer, but limits are reaching fast with servers (my current system: 32Go memory, 1To SSD, i7 3930K…).

What’s your experience on this setup? What to do and NOT to do?

Oh, BTW, I like ASUS brand.

Finally, sorry, English is not my native language.

    Christian
