Hi. I have a few 2012 R2 servers left. I originally used Bypass ESU 2.7 in Dec '23 to bring all 3 servers up to date. I haven't attempted any more updates until now. I assume I don't need to run Bypass ESU again. On one of my servers, I installed Aug '24 SSU (KB5041588) successfully. After that, 2024-08 Security Monthly Quality Rollup (KB5041828) seemed to install successfully but it keeps getting rolled back after reboot. Then I tried running ESU bypass again and got the following error: "Failed detecting OS SKU. Verify that Windows Management Instrumentation service "WinMgmt" is working." The WMI service is running. I restarted the service just in case but nothing changed. Any ideas what's going on? Like I said, it worked fine on this server back in Dec '23. Also, I see people on this forum talking about using windows update with Bypass ESU. Is that really supposed to work after installing that month's SSU? It never did for me. Thanks!
I don't know much about corrupted WMI repositories, but winmgmt /verifyrepository returns "WMI repository is consistent" Is there another way to confirm the corruption and fix it?
Thanks. I did some of the WMI repair steps and got it working. I reinstalled Bypass ESU and updates are completing successfully.
hello and sorry for my bad English which does not have my language. Does this method still work for updates until 2026 for Windows 8.1 x64? these updates are compatible and almost as good as the original ones? On my 2013 PC which is original factory pre-installed Windows 8, I have the choice to put 8.1 or 10 (has 16GB of RAM and 3rd generation i7) do you recommend Windows 8 or 10? knowing that Windows 10 will have more updates in 2015
I'm wanting to make an 8.1 ISO updated to Server 2012 R2 EOS (2023-10) without ESU (Mostly because I can't find later Security Only updates on the update catalog) Would I need something like this or do some sort of modification to install those updates with DISM? I notice some of the post 8.1 EOS (2023-01) updates don't install or fail to install, but that's just double clicking them to install.
Better way make windows 8.1 up to date with official After modify registry to embedded sku to have update up to july 2023 , modify registry to defaut value , and search for windows server 2012 R2 update ( october 2023 ) on windows update catalogue https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/bypass-esu-blue.86548/#post-1776907
You can't offline integrate 2023-02+ updates for any NT 6.3 without ESU Suppressor, even for Server 2012 R2 you can't online install 2023-02+ updates for Windows 8.1 Client without ESU Suppressor Security Only updates are pointless anyway
After I run the script, there is no choice between 1 and 2, only an exit choice of 9. Is there anything wrong with my operation?
It means the "ESU Suppressor" is already installed, and ESU updates are also installed, so you can't remove ESU Suppressor
Thank you, it is already installed. Besides manually installing patches one by one, is there any way for windows update to search for my missing patches?
