Got it working on 8.1 Embedded Industry Enterprise with ESU bypass. Everything is working fine. Thanks @abbodi1406 !
I'm testing it now. Result: this cumulative update can be installed very fine in the condition that BypassESU-Blue is installed. Same as before.
But because there are no x86 versions of Windows Server after 08r2, updates for Windows 8.x x86 and Windows Embedded 8.x x86 ended today. And updates for 12/r2 are not be offered via Windows Update in Windows 8.x x64 and Windows Embedded 8.x x64. Also updates for Win7 x86 will end Oct 2024.
Just installed August 2023 updates on Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Pro manually after applying bypass esu blue. Would be glad if Windows automatically recognized those updates, but a manual update is better than no update.
I wonder whether those "Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1507 for x86-based Systems" security update packages still in circulation every 2 months under Windows 10 LTSB can be reverse-engineered selectively to accommodate Windows 8.1 x86 OS versions. Windows 10 Version 1607 for x86-based Systems security update packages would not be suitable because they incorporated Windows Server 2016 OS as a base code. Then, there's the question about .NET Frameworks 3.5, 4.6.2 + 4.7/4.7.1/4.7.2, and 4.8 security & quality update(s)/rollup(s) suitably compatible for installing on Windows 8.1 x86 OS versions (Windows 10 Version 1809 for x86-based Systems version is the minimum .NET Framework security update(s) version now available for x86 OSes incorporating touchscreen app Windows OSes). Sooner or later an enthusiast out there may arise to the challenge. Else, will using the security update packages from Windows 7 Embedded .NET Framework versions (at least for all the .NET v4s updating) be a solution? Alternatively, to upgrade the Windows 8.1 x86 version to an available version of Tiny10 x86 still under Microsoft update support?
Looks like this machine is I am typing on EOL as it can only run Windows 8 x86. It is too under-powered to run 10 .
Good to know, let's see if after October, which is the final update date for win server 2012 r2, after that date there will be 3 years of additional support on server 2012 r2 until 2026, I want to see if in November 2023 the cumulative amount will be released on the server 2012 r2 will work on 8.1, I hope so, what do you think? or MS goes for extra protection in these updates for 3 years from October onwards?
Will there have WSUS Proxy for Windows 8.1 just like Windows 7 receive ESU updates through Windows Update?
Any idea why for me it appeared as succeeded, but it did not installed the full package? Because after I installed those updates I don't see that ntoskrnl.exe and other files updated
did you install "Security Only" updates instead of Security Monthly Quality Rollup (the big one) ? If yes, that maybe the reason.
Try to uninstall then reinstall the updates, including August SSU. If still fails then I give up. You could ask Professor Abbodi himself for solution.
