While Install I save the currrent store folder. Restore renames the current store with installed fix and renames back the backuped one while install. After the first restart spp gets triggerd to rewrite the policy key. Than after the second restart the policy is rewritten and will be used for the next start. Thus it needs 2 restarts to see the effect. I'm not using system restore. It easy copy, rename pasteing. Please don't mess around with the tool. Use it or don't use it... it's not meant for switching. I wanted to build in a toggle function but I don't have time for this anymore.
Hm... while development Chris123NT mentioned some WU Issues, but I and some others never could reproduce them. Now including you 3 people mention WU Problems. As it's already described how it works, I can't see any realation. As it's only renaming one file (not to be found). I will check the Updates to find any hint for this.
When I was getting the issues it was throwing an error code that directly related to a licensing check failing. So maybe the missing license file is causing the OS to report itself and non-genuine to WU somehow? Not sure if that's what's happening but I know there was some kind of an issue.
Hm, this sounds more like spp was not running or could not be started atm. - Was it the kind of slui message (type slui # 0x....) for more information? - Took download (temoporary) offline.
Indeed. KB2756872, KB2768702 are not applicable. Will do a revert back operation. Hm. After Installing this KB and than installing all works, but this should than be avoided from the programm. I can't do any modifications (time reasons), I check with my colleague so that HB860 (If he still wants) can develop further more checks. But maybe this tool is not anyway needed anymore. (but it does the best (my definition: clean) experience). There is a problem with the new generated tokens.dat - This is more a general problem than a problem of the specific fix! I'm currently investigating.
There is no problem, if you will avoid "force mode". With "force mode", you will have problem with installing some Windows Updates (they will display "failed to configure, reverting changes") Also you can't upgrade from Pro to pro WMC then, but... Problem is only with the solution, what you use to deal with caching... I already wanted to tell you week ago, but I forgot. So just post version v06 again...
Can anyone PM me/post a link? I don't have a copy anymore so i can't uninstall it from my netbook because the download is gone for now.. meh
Updated website, just check again. Just to be clear: this has to do with slmgr /RILC not the Tool itself!
Indeed. you're right. Without the forcing it's working fine. I will compile tomorrow a new version. Sorry to all of you who may have problems. And restore should fix any problems (therefore it was build in)
I still don't get why you chose to rebuild entire tokens when you can just -ilc one alternative explorer licence, like the attached one, and to undo - ilc original one. No even real need to mess with permissions and to rename original license in ppdlic folder - alternative license can be temporaly copied to any other place and imported from there.
1. I'm not allowed to provide files in a legal way. 2. Replacing doesn't effect already build in values. (they are kept in the token - maybe not if the licence id is the same as from the 7xxx build) - I only tested with W7 xrm (also worked). 3. Some complained it took more than 2 restarts, so I did the rilc command as this works just normal in win7 (so i guess this is a bug from ms) If you want to provide files, do it... I personaly recommend the alternate xrm, but this can't be done in a legal way.
File was provided - in the attachment in previous post. And i think uninstalling one of system licenses can't be considered legal either...
Yes, than everyone can use it if they want. - But I can't build in something like this. "(Un)installing is just like file not found, It's on you if want to modify the system. - I only provide a simple -one click- solution for that. Providing files is different than moving.
From which system is that file? It isn't from W8 b7989 x64, what I use... BTW: Installing the explorer.xmr-ms license by /ilc option from W8 b7989 changes the values... Does /ilc command also make an effect of loosing activation BTW?
No, won't lose. replacing is without any questions the very best solution. Only tested with W7 file (didn't know till someone mentioned the one build that this didn't contain the 'bad-value') if i remember right ilc didn't work (w7) as this file has different license id. rilc needed to be used. - than i didn't test version vom the build, only took a look in it.
