@Enthousiast I am wondering if the patch team is thinking about making an ESU patch for Windows 7 embedded versions of POSReady 7 and Thin PC 7 both of theses versions will receive standard WUs until Oct. 2021. And then they can receive 2 yrs of ESUs until Oct. 2023 This will effectively give these versions of Windows 7 still almost 4 more years of Updates. I am already running the 7 Embedded versions above on some of my machines. And without an ESU patch, the 7 Embedded versions will only receive 2 more yrs of updates, instead of the 3 more yrs that the regular versions of Windows 7 can get.
@PC_Uzaarr The ESU Suppressor (v5) or KB4528069-Lite already work for Embedded WU ESU Patcher has no effect it's long period until Oct. 2021, we shall see
So before I follow this tutorial, I have a question: I used to install my Windows updates with WUD, any way to still do that after installing the Bypass? If yes, how? I'm a real incompetent at this, so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I have no clue what WUD is, after installing full v5 you can simply update by WU (Rollup + SSU) or manually Security Only CU + MSIE11 CU + SSU.
So the only thing I've to do is to install it trough option 1. Then I go to Windows Update in Control Panel and search for new updates. Right?
When you've carefully read the official info, you also need to install kb4538483 for WU to be able to offer the ESU updates.
If those updates were automatically installed trough Windows Update, it's done. I always keep Windows up to date.
WU will only be able to offer and install ESU updates when v5 is fully installed and kb4538483 is manually installed (kb4538483 will not be offered on WU).
Is there a "how to" that explains how to get Win 7 updates AND how to get them from Windows Update? And this of course as generally understandable as possible explained / formulated. Bypassing Windows 7 EOL is a nice thing. - Searching for yourself for updates and hoping you dont miss any, not so much.
I havent got around to fixing the WU. Manually Downloaded KB4540688 at the last min here. Says I already have the rest. Im good right?
Hello, someone would be very kind to explain what install.wim is and where to find it? Thank you very much!
