v8 works. testet KB4577053 (Security-only) and KB4577010 (IE11). Thanks a lot for the very fast ByPassESU-Fix.
I just said remove the DotNET 4 part of v7, as v8 does not contain it. Generally, for DotNET 4, the standalone patcher or the standalone installer can be used alongside v8. Issues are still the same - only enable Dotnet patcher when required, remove afterwards (it still fudges up MSI).
OK, so I have a question... It's been advised to use either the Standalone Installer OR v8 of the ESU Bypass (after uninstalling the .NET portion of v7 of the ESU Bypass) to take care of KB4577051. My question is: which of the two methods (Standalone Installer OR ESU Bypass v8) would be easier or more convenient to use to install KB4577051?
I made the mistake of not removing the .NET suppression of v7 before installing v8 and installing KB4577051 failed with the error code 80070661. I went back to v7 to remove the .NET portion, but now every time I search for new updates in Windows Update I get a big "Hardware not supported" popup, and then the search fails with error 80240037. This is probably because I have a Ryzen processor, I wonder if there's a workaround for this. Update: Fortunately wufuc solved the search issue. I guess I didn't have the update that enabled the CPU check until now, or something else suppressed it. Anyway, KB4577051 now installed successfully after a reboot. Now I can't get the KB4576628 .NET update installed. Update #2: I should have RTFM more carefully. By temporarily installing dotNetFx4 ESU Bypass, KB4576628 installed fine.
It is also not clear to me what best to do. 1.- Standalone Installer. 2.- v8 of the ESU Bypass after uninstalling the .NET portion of v7 of the ESU Bypass. 3.- v8 of the ESU Bypass without uninstalling anything before.
I only get 2,4 and 9 exit so slightly confused. Its worked every month so not sure whether its 2 or 4.
Could someone please be specific.. The .NET portion of v7 has never messed up any msi things on my 3 computers, so I would really like to keep it. Since I am just "lucky" in that regard, isn't the best option for me to just install v8 and live happily ever after, believing that Windows Update will continue to install both cumulative monthly updates AND .NET framework updates? I'm a lazy old geezer who just wants to click on update, then restart, and that would be the only manual action on my part.
I have done option 3 and the failed update was finally installed. In the version 8 menu I chose option [2]. The [1] did not appear.
Up until now, I managed to install ESU updates with the original method of installing kb4528069 and no suppression stuff. Now that has come to an end, it seems V8 is the only solution left. I'm amazed though at how much stuff gets modified in the system to get all this to work. I.e HKLM/COMPONENTS. No wonder ESU-suppression can no longer be uninstalled
