I apoligize for my question, maybe silly, but isn't it today - first Tuesday of the month - the right one to get the update?
no it's the second tuesday of each month so you will receive next ESU updates through WU on 8 December.
I have been using the Bypass successfully but am running out of space on my C drive so want to use mklink to move C:\Windows\System32\SoftwareDistribution folder to another drive - anyone know if this would cause a problem with using the Bypass?
I would not recommand doing that, you can just remove the content of the SoftwareDistribution folder to free disk space and recover some gigabyte disk space. before doing that , better to stop WU, remove the content of SoftwareDistribution folder, reboot the machine and start again WU. To stop and start WU you can use these command lines in admin mode :
Yeah, I've been doing that a long time now w/o issue but recently having a recurring (Nvidia) driver issue that AFAIK shouldn't be related yet seems like it occurs after deleting the folder contents so was trying to find another workaround. I def don't want to screw up the Bypass since it IS working!
Your Nvidia driver issue should not be related to cleaning SoftwareDistribution folder unless you got and installed the Nvidia driver through WU. If so, just download your CG driver from manufacturor site and install it and you should be fine.
Thanks. Don't want to get this thread too off topic but I did a clean (driver) install from NV website yet still having same issue a few times since so wasn't sure if maybe WU was updating/altering things. Otherwise I'd just keep deleting SD contents (just barely keeping drive from getting too far below 10% free.
I just tried to update the ESU-Bypass (V9) on a sysprep backup from 2020-08 that I restored and got the following error: Code: Checking Prerequisites . . . ==== ERROR ==== Required updates are missing. You must install: 1) KB4490628 2) KB4474419 3) KB4550738 [April 2020] or later servicing stack update Press any key to exit. I checked the packages.txt and the first two KBs are installed. Shouldn't I just have one prereq (KB4550738) shown as missing? I might add that the live system is running in sysprep mode. Edit: I guess :E_SSUSHA is a catch-all for different errors. I'll just add the one SSU and see what happens. BTW, if I install KB4550738 do I still need to keep SSU 4536952 from 2020-01?
The latest SSU ESU is enough so since april SSU is installed, no need to keep SSU from january. OP mentions that you need to install at least may SSU KB4555449 (May 2020) or later.
Sorry you where totally right, for some weird coincidence both PCs has this message on the same day. It's fixed now thx
Hello, someone noticed a very slowdown when starting W7 after installing the November 2020 updates: KB4586827; KB4586805; KB890830; KB4586083 Thanks
