Dumb question:- do we leave the "update" folder in place, or can it be deleted? It's 89.8MB in size due to ndp48-kb4600944-x64.exe and NDP48-KB4600944 being inside. I followed the instructions and was able to get ndp48-KB4600944 installed. I'm now waiting to see if ,NET4.8 still shows in Control Panel Installed Programs list and in Installed Updates list. Recently I discovered that .NET updates disappeared from those lists after two reboots, so I'm waiting to see what happens today. I've rebooted once and they're still showing so I'll wait awhile and reboot again to see if this install method has made any difference. It's my last resort before considering a fresh install of Windows 7, which I want to avoid. Any advice would be welcome, thanks in advance.
This is the folder I created you can delete it when you finish. I just wanted a simple path to access the folder threw cmd. Just to confirm this is the folder you created and not inside windows or something? If it is a folder you created for the update you can remove it when you finish installing the update.
Thank you for your quick, clear reply. Yes it was a folder I created in C:\ as per your instructions. I have now deleted it and blue smoke just poured out of the back of my computer...joking!! I'm hoping that, in some way that I don't understand, this method will let me update .NET each time without the updates then disappearing. Thanks again.
My apologies Enthousiast, I just read your post now. I've spent all my time banging my head off the wall trying to figure out why My Windows 7 (x64) wasn't keeping the .NET 4.8 updates. My computer knowledge/ability is quite basic...every day's a school day for me. Just today I managed to make some progress using the instructions posted by st379 (above). Usually the .NET updates disappeared from my system after two reboots, but after 3 reboots today they are still showing in Installed Programs and Installed Updates, and MS .NET Framework still shows in Installed Programs. I'm going to keep checking to see if they remain in place permanently or not. Meanwhile to answer your question I wouldn't know an SKU from an Eskimo. My Windows 7 Pro is (x64) and I've been using ESU ByPass v11....I even tried with the standalone .NET ByPass v.5 for a couple of days and although the installation went as per the instructions said, the kb files disappeared. I tried multiple times, but with the same result each time. But I'm hopeful that now the problem may be solved. EDIT 9th March:- I kept the Security and Quality .NET Rollup for February and uninstalled the previous monthly Rollups. After a reboot all the .NET updates disappeared from Installed updates list and MS .NET Framework disappeared from Installed Programs list. I'm just going to forget about .NET updates from now on and just install the other Patch Tuesday updates which install without any problem. My system came from an installation disc I got on-line and the problem lies with that disc not with the ByPass. Thanks for trying to help guys.
Well just like other people here, I can't install the update for the .NET The February patch installed fine, but I'm always getting FAIL while installing the .NET patch This happens in my 2 machines Win7 ultimate 64bit Win7 pro 32bit Note: have the v11 installed on both machines Note2: also tried the separate .NET bypass , same issue can't install Edit: I'll test the solution you guys just mention and report back , thx
I dug into the problem a little and I think they pulled KB4578952 which is part of update KB4579977. If you search for that in their catalog it returns nothing.
well now im offered March updates... now ... the same .net update of FEB still doesnt install (KB4603002) and the new March .NET update (KB4579977) also doesn't install 2021-03 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB5000841) This one installed fine ... What is happening with the .NET updates?
