I chose to "Hide" the update, noting that IF I decide up the road to install it, there is a stand alone install pgm for it. Obviously Microsoft listed the WU as an "Update" even though I do NOT have Edge installed in the first place.
Don't want that that invasive crap browser on any of my systems. First thing that goes bye-bye after install.
Same thing for me yesterday I was offered the new Edge, and I never had Edge installed on my win7 I installed, reboot is required to finish installation I only installed since this new Edge is chromium based, its actually pretty good now
If MS would have built a real browser instead of another Chrome clone then I would give it a shot. Google is destroying the internet. Why the f**k does MS want to help them do it?
You forgot it spies like hell. If you need to use Chromium-based, at least select something more privacy-orientated, like Brave.
After installing this on a just-for-fun Server 08 R2 box I noticed that the Server Backup was no longer showing successful updates. I narrowed it down to KB4552940 that was part of these ESU updates in May of 2020. In case anyone else encounters the same I did a lengthy writeup here on how to resolve.
I was installed v7 version of ESU bypass, it worked. Now Windows Update on Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate is downloading 2.1GB of updates. After updates finished, I will install v11 version on it.
Аfter full installation bypass Windows 7, network drives, network folders are not distributed by active directory group policies. Also Microsoft Word 2010 x64 won't start. After removal, everything works again.
With Bypass v11, since beggining of the 2021 updates (Gen-Feb-Mar) after the reboot i found that cumulative update failing and W7 have to restore to previous state. Is there something i can do to resolve or i can only hope (again) that next month update will be more lucky? Spoiler: Office 2010 argument Office 2010 package programs (Excel, Word, PP, etc..) don't work until uninstalling all of 3 (ESU Suppressor + WU ESU Patcher + .NET 4 ESU Bypass) Project and Visio 2010 work without problem with Bypass ESU installed
@DJdonmaton Latest Extended Servicing Stack Update = KB4592510 use that instead KB4555449 @julend is the failing related to ESU check? or simply failed update installation? + you only need to remove .NET 4 ESU Bypass
ESU checking work flawlessly (never missing an update), just a failing update installation both with - WU or - current CU downloaded directly from MUC. Same result: installation seems ok (100%) only reboot is needed, but after reboot system starts an automatic repairing itself thru uninstalling it right, thanks
Well, you have to check log files in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS but they are big and not easy to interpret, search for Code: , error
I was also getting an error like this, I searched through the logs and found that it was not installing because of a missing ESU product key. I had assumed that the simplix pack had BypassESU intergrated, so I hadn't installed BypassESU. I tried to install the CU again after installing BypassESU seperately, and it worked.
KB4603002 is showing up as an important update that hasn't been installed according to Windows Update but it is installed successfully by Windows Update and manual installation. How do I get it to not show up since it is being installed properly (unless it isn't)?
What .NET 4 version you have? KB4603002 (all .NET Rollups) require at least 1 update or max 3 updates installed to be fully installed
