same reaction; if that actually happens it could probably even end after/when windows 10's support ends in 2025 where are those?
Correct, and maybe three years will extend for Server 2008 Sp2, Server 2008 R2 sp1, Windows 7 Client (not WES, WEPOS), Server 2012, Server 2012 R2, AND Windows 8.1 Client (Not embedded)
pkeyconfig.xrm-ms has been updated with the new licenses. Client ESU MAK, Client Embedded ESU MAK, Server Embedded ESU MAK, Client ESU GVLK, Server ESU GVLK. On running systems updated to July, the file is in Code: C:\Windows\System32\spp\tokens\pkeyconfig\pkeyconfig.xrm-ms Read with pkeyconfigreader or License Manager.
I haven't found any articles to confirm that Microsoft is going to increase ESU support for Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit for another 3 years. I'll believe it when I see it happen.
No any later Monthly Rollup will have them they are needed only for actual ESU subscribers (if they officially extend it)
You need the new pkeyconfig.xrm-ms in LM's directory, then start it. Do a "Browse database" and expand the appropriate item on the left.
the thing IS IF chrome ,firefox and other popular apps will continue to support 7 after 2023 and even it gets the 3+ extended support + edge +office 365 for win7
Agree. The only real things I'd be concerned about is the browser and the anti-virus. Any other software can stay at the old versions for all I care as long as the hardware lasts. I seem to remember Firefox supporting XP for 4 or 5 years after it ended. Don't know if that would be the case in the future.
Microsoft has been doing things quietly lately and without much fanfare. They added a Windows 10 22h2 enablement package in the latest preview release and I installed that getting ready for Windows 7 demise but few know about it yet. So another extension of Win7 is very possible and I hope very true. Much prefer it to Windows 10.
