I bet KB5016891 and KB5016892 which provide fourth, fifth, and sixth year ESU licenses for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 is for serving customers who had purchased Premium Assurance.
I did some more digging and worked out what was casuing the issue. I have a program called "CryptoPrevent" installed on both PCs. It adds a lot of policies to the registry to stop ransomware. I temporarily disabled it and the Bypass installed!!
Maybe... I don't have edge, but I'd be surprised if that was actually the issue. Just don't do that patch I guess, if that really is what is causing the problem? I have some ideas why, but I don't know for sure. EIther way, it's not worth worrying about. As for the security only vs security and quality rollups, my understanding is that they amount to the same thing at this point (i.e. since ESU started). Since I'm not digging into the details each time, I'd recommend just installing the rollup to make sure you don't miss anything. That's what I'm doing anyway.
HI, I hope you have your answer already. You can choose. I choose the Net Framework Security and Quality = Roll up update. That is ok. First I have installed the Security only NetFramework updates, but since a couple of years I have the roll-ups installed without any problems. I have Net Framework 4.7.2. My system needs the February roll up KB5022731, which consists of KB5022523 (3.5.1) and of KB5022515 (4.7.2)
I got one that showed up from 2017. Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3125574). You should be good since you uninstalled the .net 4.x part of the Bypass. It tends to interfere with MSInstaller.
I have Windows 7 Ultimate with all ESU updates as of January 2023, installed with previous BypassESU. Checked all of the Recommended Updates for Live OS installation. The only ones that I don't have are: KB4575903: ESU Licensing Preparation Package / to receive updates up to 2023-01 KB5016892: ESU Licensing Preparation Package / to receive updates after 2023-01 for Server 2008 R2 only Installed BypassESU-v12. Ran LiveOS-Setup.cmd as administrator. Everything loaded with no errors. Choose option 1. Ran Windows Update. The only updates I am offered at this time are: KB4567409 a Microsoft Edge Update for Windows 7 x64 KB3118401 an Update for Windows 7 X64 What did I do wrong not to get the 02-2023 updates? Let me try to rephrase: From now on WU will not offer you any new updates anymore, when you are running regular win 7. From now on you need to download the updates from catalog and install them manually (or use simplix update packs sorry @abbodi1406 )
