I use Ecosia just to annoy Duck and Gargoyle. Remember, a tree is planted every time you search! Floorp still works in Win 7 and is fully up to date with Firefox, as is Vyvfox. If you were using Ungoogled up to 109, simply move the Local and Roaming folders to your newly installed Supermium ones and you will then have Ungoogled Supermium which can be updated.
If it was that easy... Obviously is better than nothing, but google isn't just search, the sources of chromium are infested by any kind of Google services and IP addresses, as I already said the Vivaldi guys spent months cleaning UP the sources, and I guess (at least I hope) that a similar work was done in the unggogled chromium. It's just the supremium author would have done a way better job backporting the unggogled chromium rather than the plain one (with just a couple of patches which have little to do with privacy, imported from UG)
As you say, better than nothing. It´s only there for those odd occasions when a Chromium-based browser is needed. I accept some session cookies but everything is wiped when the browser closes and during the session IPv6, third party cookies, webrtc, webgl are blocked, DNS is limited, IP and SSL are obscured and there is precious little useful data for Gurgle to collect. I can live without javascript too. However, that is not what the average user wants which is what Supermium caters for.
Sorry, but recommending a browser that has Google, as a non-replacable serch engine is a preposterous joke. Why on earth would anyone make an ungoggled Browser and leave the Google search engine, which is THE basic data collecter.... An you DID recommend it as a Ff replacement, should Mozilla stop the Win7 Updates in September.
Personally I prefer to use the last supported Vivaldi release. I can live w/o being obsessed by the last update sindrome. Usually I would agree, but here Supreimium is aimed at people who aren't average Joes. Average Joe, just update his OS. People who use Supreimum is usually, the same people who refuse to update to W8.1/W10 because "privacy reasons", which I find really funny. It's like fighting because the syphilis, then catching the AIDS voluntarily...
I was not recommending anything - just correcting your inaccurate information: the Gargoyle search engine can be deleted and Supermium is only of use to those who need a Chromium-based browser in pre-WinX systems. If you tighten it up as I suggested then it will serve its purpose. Otherwise use one of the Mozilla forks which still work: Floorp, Mullvad, Vyvfox or Waterfox. If Mozilla pulls the plug, there is MyPal, New Moon and Serpent 52 which will continue to work as that is their purpose. Opera 12, Otter and Falkon work as do non-updated recent versions of Iridium, LibreWolf and Vivaldi. There´s plenty of choice.
I did not take it as an offense, and i love your analogies man, really enjoying people with humor like you around here. What I wanted to say is w10 just ignores ms telemetry domain redirections to my knowledge.
#7802 This is double funny, thank you! 1. Which AIDS-like problem should I have caught in the twelve(!) years since updating Win7 OS to 8 was possible? 2. Why would anyone who considers "privacy reasons" important use a browser like Supremium, where you cannot even replace the Google search with duckduckgogo or any other search which does consider "privacy reasons" important?
This is not the forum for this topic. Go to: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/browser-support-for-windows-7.86383/ I moved my answer there & will not speak on browsers in this forum again. If your comments start disappearing this is why & maybe a good place to look for them though they often get deleted & not moved. Quick note that I used DuckDuckGo as my default in Firefox, ungoogled, Yandex, Maxthon & now Supermium web browser. It is possible. Some are a bit more complicated than others to setup but all are possible. I no longer recommend Yandex (pure Russian), ungoogled is being revived, Maxthon (pure Chinese) & Firefox is dying Sep2024.
