And still it is more capable then this old no longer updated museum piece, but there still is 10 for the next 5-6 years.
Or Linux; Or macOS; OR ChromeOS; or any other modern currently actively supported OS if one is worried their Win7 is not safe to use. IMHO M$ & Win11 is NOT the answer for worry free use any longer for the average person. Win11 updates break & change Win11 almost monthly to the point even the very best experts are left helpless to fix or use their NEW hardware. OOB & monthly updates are now being used to patch/fix last months screw-ups.
Capability must be proven through actual use & proven ability. NOT the broken promises month after month as the Zero Days pile up faster than the fixes for last months breakages.
Any advice on the last update? Shall we install it or it breaks drivers and stuff? Also, what now? Is internet security, without system security updates enough? In either case, many thanks to this forum for keeping w7 up-to-date for additional 6 whole years after official EOL date!
There are also w7 ports of official browsers, like Firefox 140, chrome 141, Edge 128, brave etc as portable
Ms must have included some new regressions they borked the kb5073695 cumulative quality rollup. After installation I had numerous ad hoc gpu driver instabilities and driver resets/ bsods related to nvlddmkm.sys, and have never had any major issues with the monthly cumulative updates before. First i thought its gpu related cause i have a niche setup but no. Sometimes it crashed immediately as I opened a pdf file after turning on the computer, sometimes ingame after many hours, meanwhile on linux i had still 0 issues. So I restored my baseline w7 system and installed the 2025 december cumulative quality rollup together with its oob patch kb5074977 and only applied the security only fix kb5073699 from this month. 0 issues so far hopefully it stays that way.
Micro-Soft | Windows itself is a/an out of band update, they must be in the band not out of it, to rock together not alone. unix
