Using a non supported OS is asking for problems, specially when phoenix goes bezerk with the "tweaking" 1511 never was known for it's quality, it was just an inbetween release till 1607 was realeased, considered the best version till 1709. The so-called extra installed software doesn't hog any system resources, so just remove them if they are unwanted.
In 1607 (LTSB 2016) with december updates integrated into a clean installation WU takes a long time with almost 100% CPU usage and without internet traffic. The installation of the CU takes a lot of time as well. I tested it on a VM but still do not think it's normal. In 1709 it's a lot faster to update the first time. I think that for those who like to keep the system updated with hotfixes do not have much alternative the focus of Microsoft is on the last build unfortunately.
You can't remove everything. I think it was since 1607 when xbox icon apperaed in immersive panel, can you remove it? Plus 1607 has problem when i try to change logon background And as far as I remember network sharing doesn't work properly in it, i have to reconnect twice for it to work. I don't have those issues in 1511
I have this problem. I have to close the window and click the network icon again in Explorer. But I've removed things with MSMG Toolkit and NTLite I do not know if that's why.
Don't get if people stay on older builds just for gaming hehe I like my driver model uptodate like WDDM 2.3 dunno if you get that with older builds but on LTSB I had WDDM 2.1 or 2.2 I believe
Wddm is intel graphic driver isnt it ? If so I use nvidia card and don't think many people use integrated graphics isnt it?
Not realy bothering just read the release notes on them and the gain I have seen on newer drivers on 3D Mark so yeah it makes a difference ps gamers want a smooth experience and choose the OS that will provide them with it easy as that
I guess for gamers there must be loads of difference between 1511 vs 1709? Naaaaaat But you can prove it do benchmarks in 1511 vs 1709 prove there's difference which I strongly doubt
