ok i see the video, on how to restore the drive partitions etc, but they made the video in a win 7, and with a MBR disc....then they talk about that Macrium uses Windows PE, a cut down version of Windows which is booted, i hope that windows 8 boot this menu option so i can choose the Macrium image, only from there, he restores everything, including the partitions.

just want to confirm if win 8 let me get to windows PE, and boot the drive from there...but ok i understand that you don´t have this program, let´s see when i get out of work in 4 hours...

Why do you not try to get a bootable CD of Acronis from file sharing sites. It is reliable and after burning, you can boot from it to make a system image and restore that. No need to install. Try Acronis 2013 or Acronis 2014 boot CD.

Yes  perhaps far easier I actually use Acronis myself :D I install it once along with disk director just to make bootable media with both programs. Then uninstall it.

Since this has veered away from uninstalling windows 8.1 to backup/restore programs, if you have a Seagate or WD hard disk in your system (very likely) you are entitled to free Acronis version from the support sites of Seagate and WD. In fact, I ue Acronis free and have had no problems with it. I do grab latest boot CD from the net though just to keep up with the latest. But even the versions on Seagate and WD site work with all OS from XP right to 8.1. Tthough they do not officially state it, I have used Acronis WD edition with win 7 for 2.5 years and with win 8 for 1 year. It works with win 8.1 also.
