Can I use my upgrade key to activate windows pro msdn version?

    Can I use my windows 8 upgrade key to activate the mdsn version of windows 8?Im trying to download the windows 8 via the upgrade assistant, but I keep getting this message not available in your country or region.
    Im thinking about using the mdsn version of windows 8 pro.Is this version the same as the retail version?Is this mdsn version older than the one released?
