I keep getting bsod in win7 64 bit when playing coh2. I have bluescreenview app but I think the windows debugging tools will show more from what I read so it needs a dev to look at it. Need help with this. Nothing is overclocked, latest m/b bios and build is 4 months old. I am suspecting amd gfx driver since these have been updated a few times recently but the only thing I see in the dump is UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP 0x0000007f 00000000`00000008 00000000`80050033 00000000`000406f8 fffff800`030863d0 ntoskrnl.exe+6f400 x64 I dual boot linux and don't have any crashes in linux or window desktop for that matter. Just this game as my other games are fairly basic. Also ran a sfc verifyonly scan with no errors reported and used intelburntest 2.54 on high setting 30 passes which passed ok.
yes.. I hate faults like this that are really hard to track... Game auto updates since its a steam multiplayer RTS game. I have updated a few drivers and rolled back the graphics driver a few months version. Also monitored temperatures and he vid card reaches about 55 degree C average and the CPU package about 45 degree average in this game which I guess it ok. Its an i7 6700 on an asus skylake z170 m/b. I only run the ms security essentials package btw. What drivers have direct access to kernel and hardware in windows ?
I don't use system restore tbh. Turned off. Never overclock and already done a memtest and cpu burn test. It just seems this 1 game at the moment. I just the debug info give more details to help.
I'm not getting much out of the dump file. Most common causes for the specific error are indeed hardware problems, or a stack overflow (which would probably be caused by a driver). I'm not quite sure, but the minidump might just not contain everything needed to analyze this further in case of a driver issue. If you could change your dump file options to get the larger "kernel dump" (not the "complete" dump), it may be possible to get more out of it.
Thanks for checking. I'll change the dump size to full but would this dump the full 16GB of ram ? I tried the game again on an older version of the amd gfx driver and this time it crashed to desktop with a bugsplat and windows exception error. I'll roll back the driver even further to when I know it worked ok and see what happens. RCT3 I also play runs fine so I am thinking its just this game, is that possible that other apps and games run fine but 1 can cause a driver crash ?
Yes, which is why I wrote the "complete dump" option is not necessary. "Kernel dump" should be enough, and should come out significantly smaller.
