What about the RC? I've tried patching it with the same module but it freezes at the Hyper-V screen when starting a VM.

Do you mean SP1? That works the same.
Or do you mean RC of W2K8 R2?

Most likely same module, but in a different place?

I mean Server 2008 R2 SP1 RC. If it's the exact same, can anybody upload the patched vmwp executable? I've tried patching it but cannot seem to get it working properly.

    So re-read post #4
It explains it in smallest detail how to do it

It is way nicer to do it yourself (you know what inside then!)

Do I use HxD's paste insert or paste write? With paste write it freezes at the Hyper-v boot screen. I think it might be different with the RC than the beta.

    Screenshot with boot freeze:

Upload the .exe & I will do it for you

Paste write, as you want to overwrite the module code

That's what I thought, but I tried the other paste option when it didn't work.

The 1B module IS identical in SP1 RC, but the location of that module is in different place

    start offset 25B65C

    end offset 28E4DF

You find that by searching for module length/checksum 702E030049F4B366

I'm probably missing something, but when I copy from the 1bR2_mod-Dell-S21.rom, it's too short, starting at offset 25B650, but ending at 28E4D3 instead of 28E4DF.
    The vmwp.exe is from 2008R2 SP1 v. 721 - so what is wrong?

OK, I got it: start from 25B65C.

Glad you found the correct info (I edited the first post with much BIGGER font)
& also the post #22 with adjusted info, as you noticed it needs to be 25B65C

Well, I forgot to thank you - it's really working - and I like to solve a solvable problem. This was really good.

    @sebus
I have not been into modding Hyper-V much yet, but quick question, if i preferred to have another SLIC inside the 1B module, is it OK to assume that once i replace for example all HPQOEM entries (including SLIC) in your posted HP 1B module with one of my preference and afterward fix the checksum? (i used ChecksumApp.jar created by nnaaahh)

BTW, still using Hyper-V of Windows 2008 R2 RTM (what are the correct offsets for this one?)

While I'm on it, would it be possible to alter other OEMID/OEMTableID entries so these are consistent in all of the bios, eg: replace all occurrences of VRTUALMICROSFT with the one used in SLIC?
