    How are you running WindSLIC?

I've observed some weirdness in how the EFI Shell passes the command line vs directly booting the binary. This may be VMware specific, or it may be common everywhere. If you run it from the shell, then the first argument is the binary path (like in a normal OS) but if you create a boot option for it, then the binary path is not passed at all - this means that everything is off by one. You can work around it by passing a fake first argument.

    Sorry for late reply.

I placed it using mountvol & then edit the BCD. Forgive my ignorance, but seems that I can't access EFI shell in a Gen 2 VM.

Is it a generic key?? Otherwise it should be removed.

    Hey Sebus,
I've got a couple of snapshots on my test box. I'll have a look tonight and see if I can workout anything.

Update 1 then. Forgot that Win8.x also uses HV (I could never really understand the point of having it there at all)

Not really, sebus. It comes as part of KB2919355 which is not the official update as i understand...

    Edit:
    Code:
MSDN/Technet offers the following file as update 1:
    mu_windows_8.1_windows_server_2012r2_windows_embedded_8.1industry_update_x64_4046913.zip

    This zip file contains:
    Windows8.1-KB2919355-x64.msu
    Windows8.1-KB2932046-x64.msu
    Windows8.1-KB2937592-x64.msu
    Windows8.1-KB2938439-x64.msu
    Windows8.1-KB2919442-x64.msu
    Windows8.1-KB2949621-v2-x64.msu

So the official MSDN/Technet update includes only v6.3.9600.17031

    KB2919355 contains:
    Windows8.1-KB2919355-x64.msu
    Windows8.1-KB2932046-x64.msu
    Windows8.1-KB2934018-x64.msu = v6.3.9600.17043
    Windows8.1-KB2937592-x64.msu
    Windows8.1-KB2938439-x64.msu

As newbie I can't post links, but see here:
