    I had Windows 7 Ultimate installed since 2011 on a i5 PC.
Its license code shows like 000xx-xx...........
So the license code starts from 00.

Now I have upgraded it to Windows 10 and when I goto system properties, it says, windows is not activated.

When I click on activate, it says cannot activate.
    Whats wrong ?

I clicked on System Properties and it shows Windows 10 Home.

I think, Windows 7 Ultimate should upgrade to Windows 10 Pro and not Home.
    Is that correct ?

And before installing windows 10, I had clicked a picture of the PRODUCT KEY on Windows 7 System Properties.

But after installing windows 10, the system properties is showing a different 00xx-..... product key.

    Why is that ?

you did 1) skip entering a key during windows 10 setup, you were 2) connected to the internet during the upgrade, and you 3) are connected to the internet after the upgrade.

Did you do all of the above?

Strange, Win 7 Ultimate should get you upgraded to Win 10 Pro, how did you end up with Home instead.

I think something with keys, since the OP isn't entirely sure what a key is as far as I can tell.

revert back to windows 7 and do the upgrade again. SKIP entering any key at all during the upgrade.

    1. Make sure the exact edition of your Windows 7 by

    (1) Run CMD as administrator

    (2) Run the command

    Code:
    slmgr /dlv
    2. Make sure the internet is connected

    3. Run in-place upgrade via one of

    (1) Windows Update

    (2) Windows 10 media creation tool

    (3) Equivalent ISO

    4. The Windows 10 should be installed with Windows 10 generic key, and Windows settings, personal files and apps kept. And activated with Windows 10 generic key, NOT original Windows 7 key.

Once succeeded, activation record had then been stored at MS Server. From now on, fresh installation of Windows 10 can be applied and activated via MS Server Record with the Windows 10 generic key.

And after the first time activation via connected internet, the PC should be permanent activated with or without internet connection.

Yep. that's exactly it. Revert back to your old OS and upgrade to Pro like you're supposed to.

How did you do the "upgrade"?
To me it sounds like you did a clean install from ISO (DVD/USB)

So install Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 again.
And click on activate online when online ?

So that will activate my windows 7 ultimate automatically.

And then simply open the Windows 10 x64 setup file which I have downloaded from Media Creation tool and click and proceed being at Windows 7 ultimate.

So, that will auto upgrade the Windows 7 and windows 10 will be activated automatically ?

Or did I miss something ?
