Let us start all over again. No need to say what you have done. Just tell us what you have, eg: 1) a genuine Windows 8 Upgrade key bought from Microsoft, or 2) only a WMP key, or 3) both an upgrade key and a wmp key. 4) how many times you have attempted to activate with each key(s)
I have an upgrade key, I was just confused when you said - This is just for the installing right? You will still need to activate with the original upgrade key, correct? I assume you will have to enter it in at some point after you install to activate?
Like this I am very sorry, I cannot help you. The key may have been used. The link is not working anyway. You should have bought directly from Microsoft.
Let me do some clarification. If you buy an upgrade key from Microsoft: 1.) It enables you to download the Windows 8 iso from Microsoft with your Key. 2.) When the download finishes, you have an option to (i) proceed with the installation straight away, or (ii) save the iso and burn into a DVD for installation later, or (iii) save the iso in a bootable usb for installation later, or (iv) you can also do both (ii) and (iii) and then go back to (i) (v) you can also perform (i) and come back another week for (ii) or (iii) or even (i) again (re-installation). For all the above, you can opt to install as an upgrade where your current Windows will be saved as "old.windows" in your C: Drive which you can later use Disk Cleanup utility to delete. Or you can clean install by formatting the existing Windows after you have downloaded and run the iso. You do not need to download the W8 iso yourself from any other source. If you intend to download the W8 iso from elsewhere, there is no need to buy an upgrade key before 31.01 2013!
I forgot to report back on figuring out my issue until I had to reinstall today and remembered that I HAVE TO type in the trial key on installation, then it will accept my upgrade product key on a fresh install.
