Hi guys! Just recently I installed Windows XP over Windows Vista using the 'fixboot' and 'fixmbr' via XP disk recovery console. However, the now not functioning Windows Vista %windir% is undeletable I have tried DOS, Unlocker, Killbox, MoveOnBoot, and more. It will not delete. However, when it tells you the file is write protected, you can take ownership and it will give you an error about the next file. But finnaly, when it gets to 'boot.sdi', even with ownership, nothing will work. Any suggestions? Thanks...
boot using a windows 7 dvd/usb disk, go into the command prompt and type the following... Get to the root dir, so it looks like C:\> RD <folder_name> /q /s Also to see all the other crap left behind type... dir /a/w and stubborn files before deleting type... attrib -h -r -s <file_name> Be careful not to delete any essential files/folders...Hope this helps
Alright, I'll have to try that. Buy why Windows 7? Shouldn't Windows XP one work too? Anyway, I'll do that... I also never tried hitting: "Repair Your Computer". I will have to try that also... Thanks for the useful info!
