Hi, I'm assembling and configuring two new PCs for me and my wife. AMD for me, Intel for her. I have installed Windows 8.1 Enterprise in my wife's PC, but it can't recognize the LAN. The current vendor's LAN drivers (and also VGA) did nothing. Nada. My wife's PC: Intel Core i5-10400 Gigabyte B560M AORUS ELITE We would love to use 8.1 until the EOL... What can I do about this?
Thanks for the reply. There's no INF file inside the EXE file, only this: WEBInstall_info.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><Driver><Install Driver_Desp="Realtek LAN Driver for gigabit(Windows 10)" Driver_Desp_Index="663" Driver_Path_Index="Network/RTL8111/W10/" Driver_Exe_File_Index="CPSetup.exe" Driver_Ver_Index="99" Driver_Option_Index="0" Current_Ver_Index="10.056.0119.2022" W7_Index="0" W764_Index="0" W8_Index="0" W864_Index="0" W10_Index="1" W1064_Index="1" /></Driver> Should I hack W864_Index="0" with W864_Index="1" and try again? Let's see...
@cansado Download the latest Windows 8.x-compatible Realtek LAN driver and give it a try after removing the drivers you tried earlier.
Thank you, Sir! It's new hardware and I was eager to see if it was was defective or not, so I instaled Kubuntu. Everything's fine. In the next attempt I'll use these drivers and let you know if they worked. I bet they will. For now, I'll let my wife use some Linux...
@Tito @Enthousiast Well, I did not tested your solution, but I wish to (heartily) thank you again. I have capitulated and installed Windows 10 in her machine, and will do the same in mine. (This is one the most wonderful places in the Internet, but you know that already.)
