Got a weird issue here...I've been running W7 Ultimate x64 forever now and used startup repair several times without problems. the other day I needed to run it and lo and behold, the disc told me that my version of windows was incompatible. I tried both a x64 and x86 install disc, both gave me the same error. It's not even that it tries to find a W7 installation and can't, it just refuses to look at all and gives me the error as soon as I click "repair my computer". What do I do to fix this?

Did you install any of those patches that were floating around that falsely reported SP1 or SP2? If it believes the OS is from a later SP it won't work.

no...the only thing I've done is patched BIOS for SLIC and installed updates. If I remember correctly, I got it to work by booting the install CD in safe mode.
