It simply injects a v2.1 SLIC into memory and boots up Windows 7. Once you shutdown, all traces of it are gone.
fyi, I'm not expecting a BIOS mod, just want to have a lo*der working. And so far none of the lo*ders are working for my Dell Precision 490.
Would anyone know of a good tut on how to modify this slic file so I could use a hp compaq cert. Thanks
Ok. I am new at this so please have patience. I located the rdell after slicv. I need to locate the hp-compaq info and place that in where the rdell is. Do I have to worry about the file size being larger when I am finished.
I got it to look good and it shows as the 2.1 version but it will not activate either Vista or win7. Must be missing something in some other part of the cd. I also tried the modded cd for acer that was submitted here and it did not work either. Thanks
You still have to install HP Oemcert and Install Product key as well, with just a 2.1 slic it never gets activated (did you read the 1st page?))
Yes I have reInstalled both the cert for HP and the key. I could not get it to activate Vista either. Thanks for the file. I will try it out.
Thanks FreeStyler that worked great. I figured out how to do this replacement this morning after viewing your file. Thanks again.
Is there anyway to install this on a USB stick? I guess the SLICLDR file is really a GRUB lo*der, but I'm not familiar with how it works.
I haven't tried it with this particular image, but I've loaded numerous other bootable ISO images onto normal USB flash drives using UltraISO and they booted/ran perfectly. I see no reason why this one shouldn't work also.
Yes, I already tried that, and it didn't work for me. UltraISO installs something on it's own and it looks like it isn't compatible with the way the GRUB lo*der loads.
ultraiso didn't work for me either on my u3 flash drive. it would just go to a screen that scrolled by a bunch of times and then stopped with something about ultraiso and how it couldn't boot anything... the regular iso worked for me though. thanks!
Anyone know why the CD LDR needs to to use the UDF file system to boot from and how the iso was created? The reason I ask, is I tried to create an iso that uses another SLIC (replaced DELL SLIC with a new one using Winhex as previously indicated.) and the DVD will not boot. I see a message about NTLDR not found. I used IMGBURN to create a bootable udf iso file and then burned it to DVD. Also, is this loader supposed to show anything on the screen? What happens when it doesn't find a Win7 installation or if the Win7 partition is not active? Thanks, ......
it does not, for the U3 USB version i converted CDFS without problems It uses a modified bootsector, that loads SLICLDR, if you re-create the iso you have to edit the bootsector accordingly No It is loaded before accessing any partition, it loads in memory so this is irrelevant
What Program used to create ISO Out of curiosity, can you or anyone that knows please tell me what program was used to create this iso? When I try to create the iso with imgburn, I get a totally different size. Thanks
