Nero works perfectly, nothing wrong with my checksums. I wouldn't trust Nero 9 or 10 to burn my toast, but it's perfect in making an ISO of a CD.
The only iso program I trust personally, PowerISO (legal registered, not cracked, in case you ask) I have tested many other CDs with it & always the hash is correct Yes, you have hash for Windows XP Tablet PC Edition CD1 (English) - VL (does not have to be exactly the same disk) sebus
No problem, was quite surprised you thought my checksums could not be trusted. Found another, so only 5 missing now.
So they are both wrong then But seriously, no idea why yours is different. Is it an original disc? I have seen once with an ISO from original release, aka SP0, think it was the Vol one, but not 100% sure. It was identical to the technet in regards to files, apart from one, checksum had the fffffff in it, so looked original. The file that was different was the setupp.ini, PID was different. [Pid] ExtraData=786F687170637175716954806365EF Pid=55274270 Is what mine has.
And it seems that you were right after all! They WERE both wrong But mounting this wrong hash iso with Elby VCD & re-rip with ISO (6 in my case) produced correct hash! Wonder what other utilities rip iso correctly... sebus
Hmm, in that case I'll give it a few more rounds with the different software instead of Nero when I get back home tonight.
Ok fair enough but some one who still is looking for file hashes for redundant versions of XP That are not even listed on MS Technet what do you expect. I have a pirate dvd with ALLversions of windows xp but i know for a fact when i extract the iso files they won't be correct. Ok thanks for testing again Sebus. I don't really know what other programs do it right, reason I stick to Elby VCD and Nero, in my case 10 standalone. Used to use 9 Standalone, but found a 10, so using that now. I don't think I have really used aNero to burn since it went past v5. Oh, I did try and burn my first dual-layer with Nero 6, coaster of course. Not happy with that, was when they cost 10 bucks a pop. Always found it strange that ImgBurn would burn an ISO, verify it correctly using a md5 sum it created itself. But if you read written DVD back to ISO, it was different to the original you just burnt.
Good stuff, thanks. Any chance I could get you to upload the 7 files or so that are different to a volume version if I give you the list, will only be around 12MB?
urie, I have a 2 DVD set too of Windows collection. Reasons hashes wont match are many. I know the correct parameters for creating the original hashes with CDIMAGE and I also have most of the versions of CDIMAGE. All these AIO CD/DVD don't use these right parameters or right version of CDIMAGE, plus a couple other reasons too, which I wont get into now. So as for knowing what is right and what isn't, are as follow: I have been able to get at least one version of Windows XP of each SP level that I can confirm, therefor I can compile the right parameters for CDIMAGE to remake same ISO and get same hash. So that way I know hash is right. Then when I get another ISO downloaded, I run it through Elby VCD and Nero, but only if it has a fffffffff to start with. Then I have a barebones ISO with no padding. Clear so far? Then I bust the ISO, and then remake it with CDIMAGE and if I get same hash as before I know it's right.
Great, should be these 7: I386\ACC_DIS.CH_ I386\ACCESSIB.CH_ I386\IESUPP.CH_ I386\IEWEBHLP.CH_ I386\SUPP_ED.CH_ I386\SETUPP.INI I386\EULA.TXT These are the files different between OEM and FPP (Retail) These 7 files are the only different files between OEM and FPP in SP2A, SP2B and SP3. They are also different between OEM and FPP in SP0 (Gold), but 2 other files are different in in SP0 as well. No idea if they are different in SP1 and SP1a. Maybe better to include them as to not waste your time once more: I386\WIN9XUPG\WIN95UPG.INF I386\NT5INF.CA_ Only about 114KB, so not a huge upload.
Those two DVD's you mention will probably be the same ones i have came out years ago, what i do have don't know if they will be of any good to you is original service packs. xpsp1_en_x86.exe, xpsp1a_en_x86.exe, WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe, and WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe but in saying that i think you can still find these kicking about the net.
