I believe chipset 'firmware' is a function of the bios, so just update your bios Other devices on your computer aren't part of the motherboard, hence require their own firmware. Such devices include hard drives, optical drives, keyboard/mice (but firmware updates for these are extremely uncommon), and other peripherals etc. Generally people don't update their hard drive firmware, mainly because companies made it very difficult to get hold of updates until recently, most people don't update their optical drive (DVD burners etc) even though updates for pretty much every model exist since before DVD-ROMs even came out! Most people don't even update their TV's, even though they are usually updateable these days, nor their blu-ray plays, mobile phones, etc.
