Wheel was invented already I'm more after things that weren't like time travel? I have reinstalled windows so many times trying so many combinations testing etc for days to make sure everything works. I didn't just choose some package and remove it so I have slim windows 10 lol I made sure nothing will get broken. There's no even errors in my event viewer, dism says nothing broken so hopefully everything will work well until windows 11
This is sort of puzzling me now. I just looked at the REGISTRY of my Win 10 Pro and searched gpedit I got a few hits, one is :- What if the package\s for gpedit is in a different location to what the other packages we have been removing. I have not mounted an image and looked at a loaded reg hive yet. have you tried that ? I guess your running Win 10 Home. For the laugh look in the registry and search gpedit and see if you get any hits. Once again, probably getting wrong.. edit Just loaded a reg hive on a pro mounted image and found the same reg key in the Wim_Software. Interesting. Will have more time to play tomorrow, so will take a look at a Home image. worth it if not just for the laugh..
if you try to enable group policy in home edition you should take a look at Sessions.xml and maybe component store (owner key).
Yes your windows may work fine ( just now ) believe me that will not always be the case. Seen it to many times before members here and on other forums all is fine until windows updates or major update similar to old service packs and they fail. Carry on tweaking your own system, but do not expect any support on this forum when it goes down. And also I would seriously refrain from calling other members liars especially when they have more knowledge or experience.
@urie I have disabled windows update package too and use one of those portable ones and not planning to install any Microsoft security updates. And when some sp1 will be released if I will want it I will just install it if it won't let me I will use fresh copy of Windows then update then remove crap again
The whole discussion turned in a pointless direction. "Breaks nothing" means nothing by itself. If you uninstall say the terminal service, that breaks nothing for 98% of the users who doesn't even knows what the terminal service is. But obviously breaks a lot for people who need that function. Back to the experience host, windows is completely usable removing it. Just use Classic Shell, which is almost mandatory anyway. The other thing that stop working is the new notification center, I didn't experiment thoroughly to see if you still get the old style notifications or not.
I know was just trying to get it back on track. This is the most useful thread for windows 10 to date and I agree this bickering and trying to fear mongrel is pointless. Regards
The point must have escaped me then. What has removing Hyper-V and Remote Desktop got to do with telemetry or are you just trying to remove as much as possible and still be able to boot? That's a valid thing to do but not really in line with the thread title.
Guess you should read the end of the title if you are looking to validate posts. Removing bing appz from versions may be valid for some also. Regards

@Shane I have removed packages with the help of MSMG that's from an iso then i removed rest from an online image. Say I want to be able to 'search' as in start button -> type a keyboard to search for lets say notepad ; while removing all telemetry crap, cortana how can i help you stuff... what should i keep and what should i remove?
If you want to search with the new windows search menu you have a long road, if you install classic start menu (3rd party) that road will become shorter. Regards
You can add to it BITS package "background intelligent transfer service" responsible for all windows background net access like Windows update starting itself and updating packages or tiles, telemetry background transfer etc Plus I see you have removed tethering package you won't be able to use ICS Internet connection sharing means won't be able to share net connection from your laptop or desktop to other devices,
