There isn't any OS alteration. All remaining packages are original, all removed packages are removed trough the official MS tools. SFC should work as expected.
It has become a repetitive joke the trolls that say this over and over again, must be a personal experience they have had and then obviously they have no idea what they are doing. Wave the flag of stupidity. Hey if I uninstall photoshop from my computer will SFC still work . It appears they try to scare the ones that are scared of viruses. The fear of the unknown black box gremlins. We must wonder why they say these nontruths over and over again, what's their motivation? Regards
I just tested it by running sfc scans before and after. No problem. SFC runs fine after removing certain pkgs (cortana, etc) Thank you very much! I'm beginning to feel a little better about W10's snitching..... If I run the install_wim_tweak.exe /h /o /l command to hide the pks again (if I understand correctly) The in that new packages.txt, would the removed items still appear? Update: It's seems that Cortana is back. I'm using install_wim_tweak.exe /o /c Microsoft-OneCore-CortanaComponents-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.0.10586.0 On all 4 pkgs that show up in my packages.txt under cortana. I get the response (after each one): MountPath : Online Component : "Microsoft-OneCore-CortanaComponents-WOW64-Package" ------------------Starting----------------- Taking Ownership... OK Editing 'Packages' subkeys 1/1OK Modifying registry completed sucessfully. -------------------Ending------------------ But after rebooting, Cortana is still there. I tried the original DISM /Online /Remove-Package /packagename:full-package-name but But kept getting Error 5: Access denied (and I was run admin all around). What am I doing wrong? Really appreciate any help or direction here. Thanks, Tango Update: I've kept tinkering and trying different thing to try and solve this on my own. I didn't realize that there are 2 cortana sets of pks. Onecore-Cortana, which can be removed, and Windows-Cortana, which seems it cannot. I tried the original dism command on the onecore-cortana and it did remove it. Rebooted and has not shown up again and not in the packages.txt file (but the windows-cortana is still there, when I try to remove it I get the error 5, access denied error). Passes SFC check fine. SO....windows-cortana pks, is there another way to remove it?
I am not too sure what version? you do not need to copy and paste exact, just the start can remove multiple. %PATH%\install_wim_tweak /p "%MOUNT%" /c Microsoft-OneCore-CortanaComponents /r %PATH%\install_wim_tweak /p "%MOUNT%" /c Microsoft-Windows-Cortana /r Regards

Why don't you guys and gals leave your windows alone and next time you do a clean up and fresh install and get a copy of Mr MSMG tool kit and go to town removing what you don't want and leave what you want??? the MSMG tool kit doesn't bite you know and its as simple as 123 to remove what is not needed in your win 10 iso Just a suggestion JP2016
Yes and I believe today is patch Tuesday, MS has been working hard to add some new sware, beware, won't be long and the only thing you will have left on Windows 10 is the taskbar.
Removing the following breaks the GUI setup for NVIDIA's graphics driver package: Code: install_wim_tweak.exe /o /c "Microsoft-Windows-Internet" /r I haven't the slightest idea why NV's driver setup depends anything on that, but removing that single package causes the setup to not continue past the Agreement. A workaround is to just run setup.exe with the /s flag so it installs silently. With that workaround though, you'll also want to remove certain folders from your driver install package before you do it, else it'll likely just install everything (GFE, Updater, Telemetry, PhysX, etc).
This is everything that "looks" safe enough to remove for my usage (or aka, sounds like something I don't need and manages to not break basic OS functionality ), split up into multiple batch files (10 removes each; no particular categorization). On a fresh 1607 install, I was able to apply all the presented updates and activate (embedded OEM key) without issue. Passes sfc /scannow. I've used multiple batch files in order to pin down what causes certain issues easier, and it also seems to help the removal speed (it seems removal slows down significantly over-time if you try to remove a bunch of packages in one-go). If I saw correctly, all this removes 500+ packages. Problems noticed: dxwebsetup doesn't work. Installing the June 2010 redist pack works fine and is basically the same thing anyway. Applets in classic Control Panel that normally open in an Explorer window (Ease of Access, Sync Center, etc) open in their own window. English (US) typing and optical character recognition got automatically reinstalled out of nowhere for some reason Right-click > Open File Location doesn't do anything (I believe this has something to do with a package in the first removal group) NVIDIA's GPU setup.exe doesn't go past the Agreement if EDGE is removed; can do a silent install to workaround this (run setup.exe with the /s flag) and as an added bonus, can remove the driver fluff and telemetry while your at it Major things removed (not a complete list): Anything to do with HyperV Windows Search and anything to do with it Remote
